My visit was delightful! It was just the way I wanted to start my early morning out. Everyone was very nice and they even saw me waiting outside before they were open and welcomed me in 5 minutes early. In addition to the excellent service the doughnuts were still warm! My favorite, along with the rest of St. Charles I’m sure, was the chop suey. The yeast donuts were soft and pillowy and the old fashioned had a thin glazed crunch that gave way to the pleasantly dense but soft inside that old fashioned donuts are known for.
