Five stars to East for its impeccable food and service.
We came quite late on a friday night. The restaurant was quite packed and was accomodating a large private group upstair. We sat on the 3rd floor alone and was quite detached from the restaurant vibe. However, the chef came to apologize for the noise and that they couldnt sat us by the counter (although it was not his fault) . He even went above and beyond to compliment us with 2 desserts.
Now onto the food. Everything on the menu was Viet fusion. I loved everything I ordered here. The Japanese oyster at 100k/each was a steal. The fish salad, beef tongue and deep fried soft shell crab were deliciojs. The scallop risotto with sauce tasted like Tom Yum lol but somehow it ended up being the most delicious risotto I ever had. The grilled jowl was also our favorite - excellent choice of spicy&sour sauce.
The least favorite was probably the pan fried red snapper but somehow ended up like it was steamed; and the spicy miso sauce was a bit bland to our taste.
I will uncertainly revisit to explore other dishes in the menu! :)

The atmosphere and service of the restaurant is great. But the food overall lacks balance.
The oyster needs acidity, and should be colder. It was almost room-temp when served.
The octopus salad needs some editing, as all the flavors were muddled. Couldn’t really taste the octopus, which was rubbery and flavorless.
The mains were better. The beef ribs was great, but sauce was bitter and over-salted.
The fish was perfectly cooked, but the sauce had too much fish sauce that was overly salty.
Overall, the meal was a good value, but the food leaves something to be desired.

I had the chance to dine here on a friday night and the vibe was excellent. The staff was attentive, the food is unique, pricing is very fair.
I ordered the squid salad, roasted veggie, oyster, roasted lamb and a fish main course. It was a joy to finish my meal. Vietnamese spices and western/japanese ingredients make a truly wonderful experience. The lamb, out of this world.
However, it took 15 min for the salad and side dishes and more than an hour for the main courses to arrive. It feels like another local restaurant where the chef is creative and talented but has serious problem keeping up with orders. It was so disappointing. I added this place to my favorite list on google map after the first dish just to remove it at the end of the meal.

I had dinner at East Restaurant with my wife last night and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were lucky enough to talk to Chef Hoa who recommended our dishes, which were all great choices.
For starters, we had the Prawn Salad (Goi Tom), followed by Soft Shell Crab (Cua Chien) then Pan Fried Scallops (So Diep Ap Chao) . All very tasty and delicious.
For the main, we had the Pan Fried Tooth Fish with passionfruit sauce which I didn't think would go together, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fish was cooked perfectly and its rich buttery taste would have been enough, however, the passionfruit sauce gave it an extra zing. We also had the marinated chicken which was moist and tender. Yum! The perfect accompaniment to our mains was a bowl of truffle oil infused fried rice with bits of burnt brown rice.
For dessert, we had the sweet tofu (Dau Hu) and the "Stickie". Both good finishes to a great meal.
The portions were appropriate, the prices fair and the atmosphere was great.
Suffice to say, my wife and I really enjoyed the experience, and cleaned up ALL the plates.
I would definitely recommend East Restaurant and will be coming back.
