Was recommended this place by a customer at work who said they drive from Portland to Warenton just to have a meal here. We really enjoyed our meal. The complimentary chips we DELISH. The salsas were perfect. We had the flaunts, and a few tacos to sample their other meats. Everything was delightful. We will definitely be back whenever we are in the area. Absolutely fantastic dining experience every time I've been here. Easily the best restaurant in the area! Everything from the drinks to the food is made from scratch and they have the best margaritas around. The family who runs it provides exceptional service every time I've been in and deserve every bit of success that they have t achieved with their restaurant. MEXICAN CUISINE DONE RIGHT! Hands down one of the best Mexican food restaurants that I’ve been to in this area in a long long time! Everything that we ordered from the appetizer to our main entree was absolutely delicious! Flavorful, presentation is on point, service was outstanding - the entire experience was wonderful from the beginning to the end. Their menu had just the right amount of dishes to choose from, not an overkill of one too many tacos or burritos that all sound the same. We enjoyed the Empanadas (Amazing!) The Pollo A La Crème ( So good!) Two Tacos (Yummy!) and the Asada de Res (Bomb!) & The Enchiladas (You won’t be disappointed!) My only regret is wishing I had found this spot sooner! Thank you El Cantrin for a wonderful first time experience at your restaurant - my family, friends & I will surely be back!!!! Mexican food done right!!!! I’m so sad I forgot to take photos of my food. This is not an unusual occurrence when it comes to my dining experiences, especially if I’m really hungry and the food is really good! Which was the case in this instance. I did manage to take a photo of the menu, though. LOL! I’ve frequented El Catrin for the past few years. It’s always been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, and their taco salad is my go to, almost every time! I wish I was more varied in my choosing, but I truly love their taco salad. I love the idea of eating the bowl….reminds me of a Mexican Willie Wonka! I usually get it with chicken but have had it with their asada and loved it just as much. You cannot go wrong in El Catrin. The waiter is nice and friendly, and the food is delicious. The atmosphere is also nice; big, bright and comfortable. Give them a try! Very clean, spacious, and quiet. Owners are very friendly and happy to answer questions. Staff is always professional and friendly. Drinks are excellent and fresh-made. Haven't had everything on the menu, but fajitas, enchiladas, taco salad, and birria tacos are excellent! The birria tacos are the best in the area. Perfectly crisp tortillas. The broth is amazing, I drink the rest of it on the side. UPDATE: It's still awesome! I tried the pollo a la crema & the flautas appetizer. They were both great. The poblano cream sauce with the pollo is delicious and plentiful. They also know how to serve up a shot of tequila. Lime, salt, chilled glass. Perfecto! We went for the first time with another couple. Delicious!!! Had the cilantro margarita….. excellent and the perfect spice. We had the pozole soup (served on the weekends)… one of the best soups I have ever had. Delicious!!!! We definitely will be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Very nice people that run the place. The food was a huge disappointment to both of us, the grilled steak was a piece of meat 1/8" thick and tasted spoiled and the only thing good on her plate was the avocado. My food was okay. The fajitas had more onion than anything else. My drink was okay, was messy, I think there was too much ice and they were out of modelo especial. The waiter came by once only. We love eating here. This family-run restaurant (mom cooking, kids and dad waiting tables) serves great food that's quite different from most American Mexican food. It's healthier with fresh ingredients and some unusual, not ordinary recipes. My vegan sister loves it. My favorite is the almond bacon chicken in chipotle cream sauce. Nachos are excellent too. My husband's favorite is enchiladas. Mole is good too, but I like the chipotle sauce better (both are just mildly spicy). I can't think of anything I don't love there. Wasn't quite what we were expecting. We had to ask for chips and salsa. The salsa seemed to be bottled sauce in little plastic containers. They were out of Horchata.
