Fun market to practice haggling at. If you don't have, you're wasting your money! Splayed cash is a big tool. Know how much you want to pay before hand and have it ready. The clay animals can be purchased cheaply by listing the price of competitors. Don't buy a hammock, you can get one in the streets for less than $5, if you pay more...just don't. WARNING: Some boys sell little origami animals made from leaves. They tell you it's free, and then say "$1!" if you take it. Kind of a messed up guilt trip. Still a cute market! Beware of possible pick-poketers. Never let anyone see how much money you have in total.
A fun little craft market. With many choices in memorabilia to being home for friends and family. The price is fair, you may pay the tourist tax but a few cents does truly matter? Lots of kind people, and many colorful objects from bags, to crafts, to potteries, to wooden toys. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I little to expensive, but nice clean and very safe great baho for lunch always ask for discounts a bit pricey
This market will give you a taste of some of the goods Nica has to offer. There are lots of shops with all of them featuring a lot of the same items. (Hammocks, pottery, jewelry, etc.) It's a good place to get souvenirs. It is geared for tourists though and the prices of the products will reflect that. You can negotiate with them and they'll give a new price that's "just for you". There is a market about 4 blocks from this market that has prices for locals. This place is nice for a visit at least.

This old Spanish fort has been transformed into a vibrant local market. With hand made items , masks, and necklaces,, to various shirts, hats, shoes, and local produce. We stayed in San Juan del sur but stoped here to browse and shop. In the market there was live music , local food, great values and friendly faces. We are from America (Las Vegas) and used to the typical souvenir shop, this is definitely not it ! This craft market captures the culture and essence of the beautiful unique Nicaraguan people. Try to steer away from San Juan Del Sur , for shopping (if possible ). Most shop owners from San Juan Del Sur get all of their merchandise from here for dirt cheap and resell it to unsuspecting tourist at much higher prices. While in Nicaragua this is by far the best value for all your local souvenirs or beach wear.
Do you need souvenir? This is the place. It is safe, quality products, the key is to buy more than one and negotiate. The place is small but worth knowing.
Super authentic and good prices but be ready for people to approach you selling things as you go in. Once you get in the labyrinth of shops you're fine

If you like to buy bags of souvenirs to fill up your suitcase and bring home with you then you've come to the right place. Lots of stalls selling pretty much the same stuff at tourist prices here but you can haggle to get the prices down though. There are some nice little places tucked away though, to sit down, have a good coffee and small snack and watch life go by for a while.....go on, give it a visit, you know you really do need that fridge magnet.!
Typical tourist market, but nice to catch some souvenirs.
