Chilled, local vibe. A gem of the South. Great steak rolls and the beer is cold and fresh. But most of all the friendship was warm.

Rather a non-event it was. So I've been in JHB for about 24hrs attending two funerals so quite a stressful time and just wanted to go and play some slot machines. I Google but a few places come up and didn't really feel like the whole casino vibe. Anyway I read the reviews about this place and they seem rather ok I guess so without wasting time I holler an Uber and stop to get more cash than I thought I needed but just wanted to relax and not go up and down looking for ATMs. I get out the car and walk up to a locked gate I presume and I'm thinking ok cool, there's some security which is great. While waiting a lady standing by the grass/ play area just says to "nuh sorry, members only". I didn't even argue as I'm pretty sure I knew exactly what she meant and didn't want any trouble. I subsequently found out that she was the manager. When unlucky for you guys, I was then directed to an Italian place around corner from you and unashamedly spent well over R10k that evening. Thanks but no thanks for being so shortsighted and........you know what.

A wonderful place to sit around with close friends and family to relax and have great times, drinks are cheaper than usual and everyone there is having a good time, good music being played in the background while you can sit in the garden and catch up with the people who you want to speak to or you can dance the night away on the dance floor. On days when Sunday lunch is served you won't find a better one anywhere else, it is a great place to chill out and relax. There are pool tables if you want to play a game and for the chance takers there are some slot machines to try and win some money. Ferns has good entertainment and something to keep you entertained. Go round check it out and have a good time.

Getting to the parking i felt uneasy leaving my car there, personally i felt uneasy in the area. It didnt feel very safe. Getting inside the bar, you could make out quickly this is a locals place. Everyone knowing everyone almost. At the bar there was 1 person serving on a saturday evening, i felt service was very slow at the bar with not many people waiting to be served. The bar tender didnt seem to be bothered much to take his time grabbing the ordered drinks. He seemed very laid back to serve a little quicker. The dj playing there was friendly and tried his best to get people involved and to dance. He offered to do requested music which i think he should keep at a lively dancing request. He accepted any request, which in my opinion is a mistake, as some people would request songs that change the mood completely from dancing to almost crying. Although it was fun, i wouldnt recommend this place.
