The good thing is the spicy is actually spicy. Ordered proper hot Double BBQ chicken burger and chicken wings Hot. The burger - there is too much batter, the chicken is big enough but there’s bites that was pure batter and it could do with less. It needs more sauce and the burger can be very dry, it can do with a bit more dusting of the spice powder. Chicken wings were good, crunchy, spicy a bit dry but it’s okay. Been here a few times to make my way thru the menu. Service is hit and miss at times they’re very slow which is fine but they seem annoyed if you don’t collect when they call your number which is hard to hear when it’s bustling and full of people. Delicious juicy and crispy chicken. Our favourite was the C. A. B burger (chicken, avocado and bacon) which was very satisfying. Chips dusted with spicy or smoky seasoning were both very tasty (spicy is actually quite spicy so be warned). Always a fan of chicken with bones so while tenders were good (juicy and crispy) I preferred the wings. We enjoyed ourselves so much we visited twice! Loved our visit here! Sweet area with 4 other food trucks, various seating, near a rolling creek. Easy ordering at Firebird, we had the CAB, firebird original, and spicy fries which were all amazing (in the pic here- we’d already eaten half the fries- portions are huge!). Tons of chicken, perfectly fried, great toppings and hearty bun. Would highly recommend! This place is unreal. The best chicken burger I’ve ever had! They have vegetarian and vegan options too and it’s seriously the sexiest chicken you’ll ever have the pleasure of devouring. Wānaka is so lucky to have Firebird! Although it was chaotic, we really enjoyed our lunch. We weren’t too sure how the spice rating worked because we have found that spicy food in New Zealand is never actually spicy, but our pants were both off!! (We ordered 2 hotboxes one “hot” and the other “proper hot” We were hurting quite a bit so we bought the aioli and peri mayonnaise sauces to help us get through it. I would definitely go back to try the burgers or another hot box but stick to the safe zone of “medium” heat. Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The fried chicken here is awesome! They have different levels of spicyness you can choose for your fried chicken. If you order a box of fried chicken, it comes with fries and coleslaw, you can even remove coleslaw in exchange for more fries! That's a really good option! Big burgers full of juicy chicken. The burgers had a little too much sauce for me but I would just ask for less if I went again. The loaded fries are drenched in gooey liquid cheese and are super yummy! The food is very rich and filling. Staff were very friendly and ordering on line was easy. The food truck is located next to a very pretty little stream so if you want to eat at the truck it’s a nice place for alfresco dining. Service Take out Meal type Dinner

Absolutely amazing. I highly suggest the bbq fries with chicken pieces and sauces on top. For the money, it’s perfect. It’ll easily feed 2 adults, you get A LOT of food

This is not only the best chicken sandwich, but the best sandwich of any type I have ever had! So good I went back again and we are only in town for 3 nights! I had the meltdown burger the first night and the CAB the second. I don’t think I could pick a winner!
