Its a cozy spot. Its almost always ready to seat you as you step inside. The Biscuits and Gravy is not my favorite but im from the south so, seriously has no one heard of white sawmill gravy along the coast? I ordered the stuffed French toast. (Smothered and covered in marionberry) it is sure to make you happy also paired with coffee. It is huge. This is a dinner plate. Not a saucer. Service Dine in Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

I’m so happy my husband and I stumbled upon this little cafe during our stay in Newport. The Service was great. We shared the Eggs Benedict Arnold Special and the Cinnamon roll. Portions were very generous. We Left full and happy with half a cinnamon on roll for later. We had excellent food and service at Fishtails Cafe. I ordered the special, which was Dungeness crab cakes served with eggs, home fries, and toast. I topped my crab cakes with my over easy eggs instead. It was amazing! My husband had the salmon hash with over easy eggs and toast, and topped it with his eggs as well. He was very pleased with his meal and had zero leftovers! The other members of our party had the Marionberry French toast (truly to die for), pancakes (perfectly cooked and fluffy), a giant cinnamon roll (house-made), and the children's pancake (rabbit-shaped!). All of the breads, including sourdough, are house made! The toast was served with delicious Marionberry jam. Everything was excellent, the service was prompt and friendly, and the dishes were reasonably priced. A true gem of the Oregon Coast. We got there a little before 10am on a Saturday and it was just one woman working the dining room. She was apologetic of being short-handed, very efficient and had a very positive attitude. Service was quicker than she gives credit for. Fishtails Cafe is a real find a little off the beaten path, near the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The Fishtails Cafe has been in the family since its inception. First visit today and will definitely repeat. The menu is great, service excellent, meal prepared to perfection. All for a reasonable price! Take a look around, there are many pictures, drawings, and paintings on the walls commemorating family travels to local artists. One special item, is a family heirloom of the old Navy Ship, U.S.S. Constitution - Old Ironsides from one of the family's grandfather's. Do yourself a favor and give them a try, you will not be disappointed! Definitely a small local joint! We had the Miss Mayhem and Slumgullion which were so tasty! Would definitely recommend. Our waitress was the granddaughter of the owner and was very kind and helpful. Overall, really disappointing. There were only other two other tables dining in the restaurant while we were there and our food still took 40 minutes to arrive, and it was all lukewarm at best, some of it straight up cold and old tasting. The turkey breast in my club was straight from the fridge, not even warmed up the slightest. The bacon was severely under cooked. Nothing was seasoned at all, from the chicken fried steak, to the fries and breakfast potatoes, to the biscuit dough that was raw and lacked even the slightest pinch of salt. The best thing was the coffee, which was actually pretty tasty, however we had to flag down the server every time to get a refill on the tiny cup of coffee, and each time the server poured less and less coffee, and the last time was poured barely half full. I don't like writing negative reviews, but in this case it is warrented. Unfortunately, do not recommend at all. Hopefully the establishment will see this make the necessary adjustments.
