Yum!! Delicious food, good wine. Would recommend! The duck ravioli were incredibly good. The lamb croquettes are more cheese than lamb, but are good as long as you aren’t expecting straight lamb. Husband loved the Lamb Ragu but it was HOT. He loves spicy, so it was great for him, but I wasn’t able to have more than a small bite. Would def recommend! An amazing Italian restaurant! We ordered both pizza and pastas and both were excellent. The margherita pizza was thin, crispy and baked in their wood fire oven to perfection! The beef gnocchi looked amazing and tasted just as good. Their entrance is a little hard to find, it’s to the left next to the small creek. Highly recommended! We decided to go in last minute and they were able to fit us in even though there were tons of bookings for the night. The atmosphere and aroma is inviting as soon as you open the door and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We talked with the manager/owner while & he even recommended local cafes for breakfast in the morning. We ordered multiple items from the menu and everything we had was delicious, we even got desert, which is something we rarely do, and finished every bite! Highly recommended!! The restaurant here is a high quality dining experience. Although admittedly it does not have much Italian flare in its cuisine, taking a more modern approach to classic Italian recipes making fusions, all the ingredients are directly sourced from Ttaly and it shows. I have been to several Italian restaurants and as an Italian myself i can say for certain this is among the best in the country in flavour. The cacio pepe bread was an idea i have never heard of, but now will forever remember and bask in the memory of its taste. The duck ravioli was equally as rewarding to eat. And finally the tiramisu was a perfect creamy texture i prefer. The only negative part i can say about this restaurant is that the food is fairly pricy and service of new customers strangely stops at 8. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Wanaka. My friends and I (group of 4) had dinner at this establishment. The vibes were really positive, service staffs were attentive, and the food was delicious. We had the beef gnocchi, margarita pizza, seafood linguine, and lamb sausage pizza. For desserts, we shared a tiramisu and a lemon tart. Amazing fresh food and cosy place! They have another branch in Christchurch but slightly different menu. I enjoyed both branches but I loved the lamb gnocchi in Christchurch a bit more and they also were generous with the lamb portion there unlike Wanaka’s branch. However, the pizza was amazing in Wanaka. Both places have their pros and cons but overall you should head there for an enjoyable meal!

Everything was absolutely excellent! We really recommend this restaurant! It’s quite hard to find a really italian pizza or food and this restaurant offers very tasty meals. Staff was very nice, attentive and they helped us with food choice. You can smell and see how pizza is preparing because they have open kitchen and you will feel like in Italy. One only thing you need to count with - there is not so many space and a lot of people know about this restaurant. So it is better to make a reservation. Wonderful place to enjoy a great meal in Wanaka! We experienced a genuine italian hospitality with good italian dishes and a touch of New Zealand! The polenta sticks are a MUST! They "open" your stomach for great options such wooden fire pizzas or pastas (we went for the amatriciana and the prosciutto pizza and they were really good!). The pere and gorgonzola salad is another great option to match any dish you go for. Every dish reflected their value and we were satisfied 100%. The photos online do not give Francesca’s Italian justice. After surfing google for some highly rated restaurants, my bf and I decided we were craving Italian cuisine and this restaurant came up. We were hesitant at first due to the lack of good quality photos of the food but a friend’s recommendation convinced us to give it a go. Without a reservation, it was pretty busy when we arrived so we had a few drinks elsewhere and came back when we were able to be fitted in. The food was nothing less than divine. The gnocchi was a sweeter style than we are used to with the candied hazelnuts but it did not disappoint. The wood fire proscuitto pizza was a perfect compliment for a share option. We are hoping to come back again within the next couple of days to try their other gnocchi. If you’re looking for good food, a great atmosphere and even better staff, Francesca’s door will be open for you.
