We were very excited to eat dinner here once seeing the menu online but we’re very disappointed.
First of all, the atmosphere and staff are very nice and friendly. Ximena was our waitress and she was so lovely! While the atmosphere is pretty, it was really hard to see our food while we ate. IF you do go, make sure to sit at a table with light above it. We were sat at a table without a lamp and my eyes were hurting the entire time. 😆
We ordered the spicy edamame, truffle porcini mushroom rice dish, the shrimp pad Thai, and the tofu drunken noodles.
The edamame, pad Thai, and the drunken noodles were all covered in teriyaki sauce. Honestly, it was so much sauce that we couldn’t finish our meals. We left half of it on the plate. This made the meal too sweet and inedible. For this price, we were very disappointed.
The truffle porcini mushroom rice dish was just as bad. We couldn’t taste any truffle and it was over salted. We also couldn’t finish it.
We had originally wanted to order dessert but were afraid if dinner was so bad, the dessert might not be good either.
Once we asked for our bill we waited another 30 minutes before we could leave. Our waitress, although nice, was serving 4 other tables and was very busy.
Would not recommend coming here. We definitely won’t be coming back.

We may have been sweating like crazy while eating our food but the food was so magnificent that it distracted you from the heat. They had some of the best presentations for serving their food. You can tell the chef puts a-lot of effort into the details of each dish. I ordered the yellow curry dish and it was the best curry I’ve ever tried. Extremely flavorful. The service was 5 star as well. Would definitely eat here again!

Very appetizing Asian food. Very slow service but great chill vibes.
Veg spring rolls were yumm.
Kimchi spring rolls were outstanding.
All drinks were decent.
Don’t remember names of main course items but all vege noodles, rice and mains were great! We were a group of 15 so had almost everything veg.
Had no room for desserts!
Service was slow. Had to ask a number of times for high chair, plates and spoons.

Food was pretty average for the hype and the price. We ordered the Mango California Rolls, Korean tofu noodles, Vegetable tempura, and the Funky cocktail. The Korean tofu noodles were the best out of the lot. The California Rolls tasted very little of mango but were great otherwise. The fry on the vegetable tempura was not at all crisp - they were filled with oil. The Funky cocktail was served along with a spectacle and had a great smoky flavour.
The music was great but the ambience was the typical boho vibe characteristic of Rosa Negra restaurant’s (nothing extraordinary).
The service was good and the waiters were extremely attentive - this could also be due to the fact that only 2 tables were occupied at the time we went (including ours).
What put me off the most was the seating - certain seats were at the same level as the table making it uncomfortable to eat.

Well designed restaurant and romantic atmosphere. Service was solid and the staff were friendly. The sushi and apps were great. Cocktails were fun and pretty good.
We had one bad dish, the drunken noodles. My wife and I each took like 2-3 bites and realized it tastes like a grill flare up or propane or a dirty grill and the shrimp was way over cooked. Brought this to the waiter’s attention when he was clearing our table (he didn’t check in after the food arrived) and he took the dish and said he’d speak to the chef and manager. He didn’t stop by our table for another 30min and never did speak to the manager so they still charged us for it(like $40 USD too). Brought this to the manager’s attention when we were checking out and they said we ate most of the dish and had to pay. We were sharing and had scooped it onto our plates, which I had pointed out to the waiter. They tried to comp us with some tequila shots or coffee which was nice but I’d rather have just not paid for the kitchen’s mistake. Unfortunate misunderstanding for an otherwise good experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Funky Geisha in Tulum and I have to say that the experience was truly exceptional. The restaurant's fusion of Japanese and Mexican cuisine creates a unique and delightful taste that is hard to come by. The use of fresh ingredients was evident in every bite and the presentation was a work of art. I particularly enjoyed the Ora King Salmon Tartar, which had a perfect balance of heat and acidity. Moving on to the mains, the Robata Spicy Beef and King Crab Marinated in Yuzu were the highlights of the meal. The meat was cooked to perfection and the sauce, although on the sweet side, added an earthy depth of flavor that complemented the beef nicely. The Korean noodles were also a great addition, providing a savory and satisfying accompaniment to the dishes. The cocktails were balanced and presented well. The only downside to the meal was the cost. While the quality of the food was top-notch, the prices were quite steep. Despite this, I would still highly recommend Funky Geisha for a special occasion or a splurge-worthy night out. Overall, I would give Funky Geisha Tulum a 4-star rating. The staff was friendly. The food was outstanding, but the cost was a bit too high for my liking.

The experience started off good, after being seated by the hostess the manager came over and introduced himself. Little did I know that was the last time this person would be available for any concerns for the rest of the night.
The positive at this place is that the food was very good, but our waiter had 6 tables (we counted) and over the entire night he checked in with us 4 times (including the time we placed our order).
We had 3 people eating at our table (we ordered two appetizers and 5 sushi rolls). It took over 3 hours for us to get out of there. An hour of this was just trying to get someone to give us a bill, eventually we had to walk over to the back room and force them to print the check and process the credit card.
If you want some good vegan sushi rolls (must be ordered off menu with the chef), and you don't mind bad service - the food is good.

A waste of money!
The food was inedible. We got the veggie spring rolls and edamame as appetizers. The veggie rolls had no flavor, very similar to store bought frozen rolls. We got the drunken noodles and pad Thai as entres and could not eat more than 3 bites. Both dishes were incredibly sweet! Couldn't taste any other flavor than the very sweet sauce and the noodles were undercooked and sticky. We let the server know but they just told us that's how their kitchen makes the dish...
The service was awful since there was only one server working and running her own food. We had to wait for long periods of time before ordering or being able to catch her attention and she seemed flustered and too busy to care the whole time.
The prices were extremely high for such a bad experience! They charged $10 for a bottle of water and cocktails started from $20. The entrees were $30 and up.
Overall, save yourself money and time and walk a few steps to one of the other great restaurants in Tulum.

If you want the ultimate cross between fine sushi dining and a club for those born in the 80s/90s this is IT. Food was great, the drinks were BEAUTIFUL and tasty and the atmosphere was SO MUCH FUN. The DJ had constant hit songs remixed to dance to. We had Abraham as our server who was great and very attentive with excellent suggestions on the menu. We went for my birthday and they had an amazing sparklers birthday dance! The male dancer Federico was so much energy he got everyone dancing! Would definitely return as this is the most fun we had in Tulum!

Extremely disappointment with this place. Stick with Anderson Group for the ultimate experience and service. It took 25 min for a server to come to our table and over an hour for food and drinks to arrive. We sent the pad Thai back because it tasted like soap. They were nice enough to give us a free sushi roll because the service was just so slow. Two stars for that. There was no entertainment at all either. The bull came to $500 for four people to eat.
