I was headed to a different restaurant, (a good one too) when I passed buy this little pasty shop, the sandwich board caught my eye,

Pulled Pork
This place is great! This was actually my second visit to this place, originally I stopped by about 2-3 years ago, and it was amazing then also. I got the cousin Jack, and it was amazing. My friends the the pork one, and they loved it. This is only place I’ve ever had a pasty at, and it has certainly set the bar high. The bread on the pasty is so flaky and crispy. You can see the bakers making everything right behind the counter. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I am certainly coming back. It’s on the corner of the street, with a mine cart out front. It’s a cool little gem, that is definitely worth visiting.

The best pasties in Grass Valley! You won't find a better pastie anywhere, including the surrounding area. Having been in Cornwall to try the original, I can tell you a thing or two about delicious, authentic pasties. I've tried them all, and the authenticity is prevalent and bold. A statement is made every time they fold the delicate dough over the scrumptious filling.

The pasties from the previous owners of Cousin Jacks was the real deal! It reminded me of my Mom’s and Grandma’s homemade pasties. I grew up eating these pies and in my opinion, Grass Valley Pasty Co was a huge disappointment. Zero flavor, and they put red potatoes in them. Sorry, but yuck. I threw away a $16 pasty.
The staff was amazing. Very sweet young man at the counter.

Cousin Jack
As a Michigander, this was like a step back home. I grew up eating pastys. So delicious. My son and I stepped in here a couple weeks ago and both picked out a pasty. He chose the chicken with artichoke instead of mushroom and I got a pulled pork. Yum! Other than the small location that doesn't easily accommodate sitting down, I give it a 5/5. Customer service was wonderful as well. Very down to earth friendly people. Will revisit!

Incredible pasty and lovely staff. Wish there was more than three chairs out front for dining but we made it work. Can’t wait for my next visit. Pot roast was my favorite!

First time here. And WOW! I bought several pasties but so far have only eaten the veggie. It was so fresh and delicious. I’m pretty sure I could eat this every day.
The staff were so nice and friendly. I was in town around 10:30am and website said they didn’t open until 12. I called anyway just hoping… they answered and were nice enough to take my order and let me know they’d have my order ready in 25 minutes.
If you haven’t been here you are missing out on a really delicious pasty.
I live in Roseville but I’d be willing to drive up specifically to get more!

This was my first visit here from Orange County. I couldn’t wait to get back today to my brothers house to taste this Pasty. I ate the entire thing. The meat and fresh ingredients in them were delicious. I tried another local Pasty restaurant but was not impressed, theirs had more dough then anything. I believe they use lard as well but the Grass Valley Pasty restaurant does not use lard. Definitely get more bang for your buck on this Pasty. I will spread the word on this restaurant. Before I leave, I’ll buy another dozen and take them back to Orange County. Thanks guys for taking the time to give me the history and enlighten me on how you make these with all the fresh ingredients.
