Its a speakeasy styled restaurant inside of another restaurant. Kinda interesting, especially in RTC. The drinks are crafted, ice cubes are clear stamped or shaped, smoke bubbles .. nice attention to detail.
Food is similar, nicely made beautifully presented. No complaints about the place. Our server was more than helpful.
Definitely will return for another meal.

Came here for a birthday dinner. The food and drinks did not disappoint. Delicious. I highly recommend the sparks of joy cocktail, and the coconut trifle for dessert. The service was amazing.
I only wish the restaurant area had been designed to be more insulated from the noisy bar. There were patrons in the bar cackling so loudly you could hear them all the way in the bathroom, and this was a Thursday night.
We will definitely be back, preferably on a quieter evening.

At last, Reston welcomes its very own speakeasy. Entering through Open Road, an unmarked door ushers you into Heirloom. Drawing inspiration from its sibling, Salt, the cocktails here are unparalleled in their uniqueness, elegance, and taste. The cuisine shines as premium tapas reminiscent of what you'd encounter in a chic New York bar. With its dim, cozy lighting, Heirloom sets the perfect scene for deep, intimate conversations among friends.
Interesting well balanced cocktails, and starters. We shared a porterhouse between two with 3 sides. The steak was perfectly cooked with good flavour, although the sides were a bit small.

Apps and drinks were solid, mains were okay. Dessert was okay.
Get the burrata and the Caesar.
Burger was good but super rich.
Gnocci was okay.
Their "Sazerac" was on the black licorice side.

Burrata
A very cool surprise tucked away inside Open Road behind a heavy ornate door, like a speakeasy. The prawn appetitizer and foccacia were delicious! The drinks were very well-made. The rigatoni dish was small but hearty but wow, that roast chicken was one of the best meal I’ve ever eaten. Will go back just for that! Charming jazzy vibe, beautiful decor, and good menu. Deducted 1 star for service. Our waitress was a bit dry/made odd side commentsto my husband and I. Also, we didn’t see her much thru the night at all so other staff ended helped us thru the night. Also the bar area is very loud.

Tucked away in an inconspicuous corner of Northern Virginia, Heirloom emerges as a clandestine gem, reminiscent of the storied speakeasies of yore. This establishment distinguishes itself not merely through its elusive charm but through an unparalleled culinary voyage that it offers to the discerning gourmand.
Upon embarking on this gastronomic journey, one is greeted by an exquisite selection of starters, each a testament to the chef's adept craftsmanship. The carpaccio, ethereally thin and impeccably seasoned, dances on the palate, setting a lofty standard for the courses to follow. In a separate, equally compelling narrative, the burrata presents itself as a standalone marvel, its creamy core encased in a delicate mozzarella shell, a harmony of simplicity and elegance. The focaccia, another highlight, boasts a crusty exterior yielding to a soft, airy interior, an embodiment of the artisanal bread-making tradition.
The transition to the main courses is seamless yet striking in the elevation of flavors. The Heirloom burger redefines the ubiquitous dish with its intricate layering of flavors and textures, challenging the diner's preconceptions of casual fare. The scallops, a delicate contrast, are seared to a golden perfection, their inherent sweetness accentuated by a judicious use of seasoning, showcasing the chef's respect for the integrity of ingredients.
Dessert at Heirloom is a deliberate continuation of the culinary narrative rather than a mere epilogue. The apple tart, with its rich caramel notes, may lean towards the opulent, yet finds balance in the rustic charm of its presentation. The hazelnut dome, however, is where the chef's prowess is most evident—a chocolate lover's idyll, masterfully combining texture and taste in a confluence of nutty and cocoa notes.
In the realm of libations, Heirloom distinguishes itself with the Clarity cocktail, a concoction that stands out for its crisp, invigorating character, easily crowned as the jewel of the beverage program. The Violet drink, while a spectacle with its floral bouquet and theatrical smoke, caters to a niche palette, further emphasizing the establishment's commitment to offering a diverse and adventurous drinking experience.
Heirloom, with its intimate ambiance, culinary finesse, and meticulous attention to detail, is not merely a restaurant but a sanctuary for those in pursuit of an extraordinary dining experience. It stands as a beacon of gastronomic excellence in a region often overshadowed by the conventional, a testament to the transformative power of culinary artistry.

Food was excellent. Service by Damari was great. Atmosphere was top notch. Only reason I gave them 4 stars was because their bartenders couldn’t make a delicious drink if their life depended on it. I ordered three different drinks, all were watered down and tasteless or poorly made. What’s a speakeasy without the crafted drinks? Also took off one star because they were “out” of everything at this location. Four of the items we tried to order (top of our list) were all out for the night but regardless I’ll definitely be back for that amazing burger and seabass.

I get it. It’s a speakeasy, but I want to be able to see my food! The lighting was way too dim!
Although I couldn’t see the meal. It was good. Honestly the BEST mussels I’ve had. I could have licked the bowl.
The pasta on the other hand was an absolute joke. The taste was good but the portion size was laughable, couldn’t have filled up a toddler.
The drinks were strong and well prepared

If you do decide to go here for dinner then do not let them seat you at a table next to the bar.
We had been here once before and had a good time. This time we decided to get dinner here and had a very bad dining experience. We were seated at a table next to the bar. Things were fine at first but as the bar got 3-4 people deep people started leaning on our table and it was such that other customers/waiters/hostess could not get by easily. It felt like the place turned into more of a club atmosphere as opposed to a busy speakeasy.
What made it even odder is that no one would tell the group on top of our table to move in or to go to another location. We also had a table with what we were told was "the big boss of the establishment" right next to us. We did bring this to the waiter's attention as well as the manager on duty and also the big boss next to us. Not once did they ever ask that group to move in or to get off of our table, they just let them do whatever they wanted.
The big boss told us "if we ask them to leave they may never come back". Well that also applies to customers like me that made a reservation. I think maybe they knew the people crowding and leaning on our table because no one would say anything to them and they'd just ignore us.
I just was really hoping for a place that would have a busy speakeasy atmosphere and instead it seems like they are going for the club atmosphere. Which is fine, if that is what you want, but it isn't a place I'd recommend having a nice dinner at. I will give them credit for comping a significant portion of our bill. I think that is all the waiter and manager could do with the big boss right there, they seemed unwilling or unable to ask the people on top of our table to stop leaning on our stuff and crowding the walk way. The waiter did apologize even before we complained because he knew it was ridiculous.
I've never been so disappointed in a place like this. The food was also pretty blah as the short ribs were very dry but the focaccia bread and scallops were actually very good. So it probably depends on what you order.
That's all I'll say, I cannot recommend this place at all.
