In chilly weather and with empty stomach, I happened to go here. Jawaid bhai was kind enough to have taken me there. The trout fish was amazing. My wife loved the tea. Crispy fries in such cold are a blessing and I have been blessed and I wish you all the same. Do visit this place. Has an amazing view as well.

During my trips to Hunza, I've visited and stayed in many villages and valleys. Although I've travelled to Ghalapan a couple of times before but this year (2021), I happened to stay here for almost 12 days. Ghalapan (popularly known as Mini Switzerland), is a small village on the Karakoram Highway, the 7th village from Gulmit towards the Pak-China border at the Khunjerab Pass in Upper Gojal, Hunza. My preference of accommodation is normally homestays or any modest lodging. And Highway Food Point was the absolute perfect choice. Sandwiched between Moorkhun and Khyber this villiage offers gorgeous landscape, fruit orchards, hospitality and fresh flowing water. Our stay here was pleasant, warm and comfortable and possibly the longest in one place.
Room - immaculate; Washroom - spotless; Hospitality - beyond belief; Amenities offered - outstanding; Security - 100% as expected; Food - freshly prepared and appetizing. Imagine having homemade butter, bread (phitti & giral), buklaa (boiled seeds of a plant) or something fancy like Semn (special spring sweet dish) or Trout fresh from the farm!
Ghalapan has become my 10-yr-old's favourite place in Hunza! It truly was our "home away from home"!
