THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO MAKE BUSINESS WITH! NEVER HAVE I EVER EVER DEALT WITH PEOPLE SO RUDE IN MY LIFE AND EVERYONE NOT AGREEING TO SOMETHING OR EVEN HAVING COMMUNICATION! I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW A HUGE COMPANY LIKE THIS CAN BE SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I WAS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO ORDER BREAD FROM BECAUSE I HAVE A BUSINESS. SOMEONE SAID THIS COMPANY WAS GREAT SUCH AND SUCH. SO I CALLED AND NO ONE PICKED UP, IT KEPT GOING TO ANSWER MACHINES. I MEAN ITS A HUGE COMPANY I CAN TRY AGAIN LATER, SO I DID! I SPOKE TO SOME LADY AND SAID FILL OUT APPLICATIONS ETC. IT BECAME A BACK AND FOURTH SITUATION. THEN IT BECAME WEEKS THEY HAVE NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME . SO I CALLED AND A GENTLE MAN PICKED UP AND SAID “ OH THE LADY IS IN VACATION.” I MENTIONED THEY COULD HAD TOLD ME THAT OR CALLED ME BACK BUT NO. SO I TOLD HIM WAS MY APPLICATION AVAILABLE OR CONFIRMED HE SAID ILL REVIEW IT. AND HE SENT ME A PAYMENT APPLICATION AND HE SAID ILL PLACE YOUR ORDER AND YOU CAN PICK UP THE NEXT DAY. WELL GUESS WHAT, MY DRIVER WAS OUTSIDE FOR MORE THEN 2 HRS AND THEY SAW HIM OUTSIDE AND NO ONE EVEN ASKED IF HE NEEDED ASSISTANCE! HE RAN THE BELL AND STILL NO ONE RESPONDED! BECAUSE HE KEPT RINGING THE DOORBELL A LADY ANSWERED AND TOLD HIM TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY DONT DO PICK UPS IN A RUDE WAY! THEN I CALLED ETC AND NO ONE CAN EVEN HELP! UNTIL A FRIENDLY HISPANIC CAME OUT AND LET MY DRIVER IN AND TRY TO HELP. I CALLED AND SAID A ACCOUNTANT HAD TO CHECK MY INFORMATION AND WAIT FOR CREDIT APPROVAL WHEN NO ONE EVER SAID THEY CHECK FOR CREDIT! ON TOP OF THAT I JAD FILLED OUT THE APPLICATIONS AND STILL THE MISCOMMUNICATION OF THE STAFF TELLING MY DRIVER TO FILL OUT THE PAYMENT APPLICATION WHEN I ALREADY HAD FILLED IT OUT! AND UNTIL THIS DAY SINCE DECEMBER THEY HAVE NOT EVEN CONTACTED ME FOR THE MISCOMMUNICATION OR MISUNDERSTANDING! NEVER EVER AGAIN! EMPLOYEES IN THIS COMPANY SEEM TO THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN ANY HUMAN TRYING TO REACH OUT TO DO BUSINESS. ITS THIER JOB TO BE INFORMATIVE WITH PRECISE DETAILS.
I love this spot. Great coffee, salads, and sandwiches! I often come to sit and read on one of the two lounge chairs while sipping on my coffee or eating a light lunch. The staff is friendly and the ambiance is nice.
I used to buy boxes of bread before, since they closed a while ago I decided to give a try to the other store but the food was bad wasn’t the same fresh food as the North Bergen and my mother food came with a surprise and they didn’t have enough bread to sell so I stop getting bread from here, today I went back to the North Bergen one and see if I could buy some boxes here. Workers were super friendly they explained me that they were still closed but I could try asking in the main office, so there I went I though they would be as nice as the other workers, well I was way wrong the lady at the speaker was more than nasty didn’t even bother to understand my question she just said: we only sell to stores 😑 I tried to explain her I wasn’t making a small order but she wouldn’t bother listen I give up and I left. (Why I don’t order online here is why it may take like 3 days to arrived, so I decided to go and maybe I could pick it up instead). It’s sad cause my kids love this bread and I have always buy a more tan 3 boxes + other bread I don’t remember the name. But wouldn’t even bother again make Bussiness with this store. They should put nice people at the office cause definitely with the attitude they will loose costumers.

Got there at 3:55 and sat in line behind ONE person for 10 minutes only to be told by the time I finally got there that the kitchen closes at 4:00. That' weak. The food is pretty good and the employees seem nice. Not sure if the incident was a mistake because they weren't paying attention, or they intentionally went slow/ignored me, but it's not good service. Gotta have like a last call or something.
This review for the location in North Bergen. I previously posted this review in error to the location in Secacus and just deleted it. My experience in this location was I finally made it to this place. As I walked in it appeared to be beautiful place with a fresh scent of baked bread. The employee was on the phone and appeared annoyed that we walked in to the empty place . He or she didn’t greet us. Instead prompted the kitchen is closed. It was 3:40pm. The employee explained that they closed the kitchen early today and continued to elaborate on the closing hours. I was aware that the place closed at 5pm. I asked if the kitchen was closed to sell bread also? To my surprise it wasn’t. I really wanted to sit down and enjoy a hot Cup of coffee . However I felt so unwelcomed and pushed out that I proceeded to leave with my purchase. To the owner get rid of this employee. I would have purchased at least $30.00 today instead I was only allowed to purchased $8.00 worth of bread. What a shame!!!!!

I use to get the chicken sandwich and when they renovated the cafe, it doesn't taste the same. The chicken is isn't even warm at times, the bread isn't will as toasted as before. It's not like it was a bad day when I went, I've gone multiple times before and the result are the same. It's shame, I use to be a regular here.

Nice little place to enjoy a quiet breakfast or lunch. It's located on a busy roadway but the noise of the road never enters the restaurant. We eat there often as well as pick up freshly baked bread

Been here twice and both times I left because I was not even acknowledged by the staff. They were doing things behind the counter which I have no problem waiting a minute but I do expect to be welcomed/informed that it will be a minute. I will not try again.
Placed a call today was listening to automated system recording for about 4 mins then the ringing began expecting someone to answer promptly. They did answer, however instead of greeting their caller they just picked up to hang up! I called back and now they enabled pre-recording that says it's after 7pm please call back during normal business hours. It's 2:12 When is your normal business hours, because it's actually 5 whole hours earlier than 7pm! How do they (you) expect doing business if this is how they treat an incoming call and don't bother to address potential customers. You have 2 chances with me, I don't give 3 chances, after 2 you most certainly lost my business! I will not be recommending this place to anyone. Shippens bread doesn't hang up on someone calling and then enable automated message stating it is after 7pm to call during normal business hours when you clearly advertise in black and white on Google that your bakery is open 24rs, and I called a whole 5 hours earlier then 7pm, at 2:12pm Oh and if you're looking to get a hold of cafe' don't bother as they don't even have a phone in the cafe' at all nor will they implement one. I called in for cafe one day about 2years ago and was told I am calling bakery not cafe! Passed me along to someone who was in cafe and was told sorry we don't have a phone up front. We should have one because people call in everyday for cafe' inquiries. I'll definitely request we get a phone up here asap. Well fast forward 2 years and this is how they resolved that issue just hang up and enable that automated pre-recorded message, it's after 7pm please call back during normal business hours. All these customers calling in and not being able to do business with you! Well serves you right you don't deserve anymore business from anyone new. The fate of your place will ultimately result in a demise of your utmost most professionalism here, which is clearly unprofessional to say the least here! Great job guys, you really out did your automated business motto you play for potential customers on hold. Shows in less then 4 minutes just how you guys really do business and honestly I would not want to have to call in to have to sort something out with yous to just get my calls ignored!!! Especially if I'm paying for the shipments!!! Don't waste your time people, call Smith and Smith in Ridgefield Park they'll take your calls! Their bread I've heard is top notch too! A little pricier, however when wanting to conduct business stress free and not getting your calls ignored especially if you may already be doing business with a place and have money on the line. Just Google them and you'll see their ENORMOUS bread selection! I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed! Your loss Hudson Bread, your loss!
