If you happen to be around Hub City Art Park, visit this bar. Nothing can be better than trying nicely cooked duck confit, coleslaw and belly pork. The cooks here prepare good bread pudding, banana pudding and biscuits. Get your meal started with delicious bourbon, Mimosas or cider. A lot of visitors order great coffee. The great location of Initial Q makes it easy to reach even in rush hours. If you look through the visitors' reviews, the waitstaff is professional at this place. Prices here are reported to be adequate. At this spot, people can enjoy the nice atmosphere and beautiful decor. This bar scored 4.7 in the Google rating system.

Came in on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait maybe 8 minutes before someone came to the front to seat us. The food came out in a timely manner after ordering it. Most everything we got was pretty good. I feel like the food was good, but nothing to make me want to come back. Still it's worth a try. What a neat spot, and with great food to boot! As a party of 4, we did 2 platters which allowed us to sample 8 meats (2 such being duck and rabbit!) and 6 sides! Though we are not bbq connoisseurs by any stretch, we found that to be a unique opportunity. There was great taste to the meat by itself, but there were also 4 great sauces to choose from (1 really hot, 1 sweet, 1 mustard, and 1 kind of in between). The Mac and cheese was excellent! This is usually a standard by which I rate bbq spots, and they passed the test! We also really enjoyed the caramel sweet potatoes, greens, and Brussels sprouts! And to top everything off, we had the Reese’s Krispie kreme bread pudding, how incredible! Great service and hospitality, we would definitely return! Me, my sister and my niece decided to go into Spartanburg to do some grocery shopping and grab breakfast after church. After an online search, we decided on Initial Q. It was a lovely, sunny day so we opted to sit outside, which was delightfully comfortable in the shade and with an umbrella as extra sun protection. The service was excellent (our waitress was something like Seeyarah; please excuse misspelling). We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My niece and I had the brisket Benedict, although hers was as stated with the potatoes as her side, which she said were crunchy and well seasoned. I’m doing an elimination diet with no sugar and empty carbs so had mine without the biscuits and enjoyed bacon as my side. (Super easy to customize my order; and the herbed hollandaise was excellent.) My sister had the Piggie & Pancakes and said they might be the best pancakes she’s ever eaten, so soft and fluffy, and the pork was tender and delicious. We liked that carafes were left on the table so we could replenish our own water when needed. They both had coffee drinks that they enjoyed. Overall, very nice experience and we’re already talking about going back. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I’ve never written a review before but I had to for this. From out of town and went in here after a conference because it had good reviews and a nice atmosphere and we wanted an upscale dining experience, but the food was probably the worst BBQ I’ve ever tasted - and I’ve eaten quite a bit of BBQ growing up in the rural South. To be 100% honest, I’ve had better BBQ in the to-go buffet section of Ingles. I had the pork, brisket, and chicken, and they were all dry almost like they had been reheated. The classic BBQ sauce takes like ketchup, the slaw was dry, the collard greens had the weirdest spiciest flavor ever and tasted canned, and the only redeeming quality was the pepper jack grits which were quite yummy. Plus, the staff is very grumpy. Our waitress was not attentive and she barely spoke to us and answered in yes or no when we had questions. Overall, I would not recommend and I wish I’d gone down the road to a different place. So overpriced for the quality of food. Went here for a Sunday lunch date with my husband and we absolutely loved it! The food was amazing. Husband's brisket was perfect, along with fried okra and mashed potatoes. Oh and that biscuit! Never tried a better one. My salad with chicken was just as delicious. Bloody Mary was top notch, and you can't beat bottomless mimosas with 3 different kinds of juices! Last but not least, the bread pudding was phenomenal! Our waitress was super sweet and very attentive. We had an amazing experience overall and will be back for sure! Loved it. 10/10

Out of all the places for our work outing, we decided to go to IQ. This was my first time to the area, but a few of my coworkers had been here before so apparently the food is good because they all wanted to come back. The atmosphere and decor was very nice and surprising to me because it was not the typical bbq joint atmosphere I was expecting. And what a surprise to get a whole plate of freshly made pork rinds. I am a lover of pork rinds so it was a plus. The eggnog martini was outstanding! More of a dessert for me, but yummy and perfect for the holidays! My colleagues and I visited Initial Q on Wednesday evening, February 21st, 2024. We had a unique dining experience. The blackened salmon was spot on. I would have preferred the skin to be left on but that doesn't change the fact that it was delicious. My coworkers were pleased as well. The staff are suprisingly very friendly. Our server, Gracie, is the best. She took care of everything very professionally. Be prepared for a short walk as there is no parking onsite. It is a lovely stroll, however. If I am ever back in Spartanburg, I will definitely visit Initial Q again and hopefully Gracie will wait on me again. We had a good visit, our first time. Any place that serves pork rinds right out of the gate is fine with me. We had the Between the Buns and the Grits and Pepper with Shrimp. Smoked shrimp with BBQ sauce and creme on grits is awesome, who knew. The chicken between the buns was smoked and tasted just right for us. BBQ, to me, is like someone's favorite color, its different for everybody. I would highly suggest Initial Q if you are in town for a visit. We will go back and work our way through the menu. 4.0 | very solid. we came back here all three nights in Spartanburg because it was so good. the cocktails, the smoked selections. so much flavour. I would say the star of the restaurant is their smoked meat. I would suggest getting the platter and splitting it between 2-3 folks. it also comes with three sides and is under $50. one night we did try the shrimp with grits, but though i enjoyed the shrimp and the grits separately, I think the crispy meat and bbq addition was a bit too much for the dish. i think the shrimp was enough to shine on its own with the grits and some sauce from the shrimp versus those additions. that is rlly my only negative feedback, which is hardly negative because the meal without those things was still very tasty. the smoking gun cocktail is probably my favourite. I also had the smoked new fashion which was also very good. the restaurant servers and owner is so ridiculously kind, and they made our experience also a breeze and an easy choice to return. I rlly feel like we came across a gem. the next time we’re in town, we will definitely come back. the ambiance is also very nice, and they have a more private secluded upstairs for events or larger gatherings. if you’re into bowling, there is an alley like right below it connected via outside stairs. love love loved this spot. would highly recommend getting the burnt ends, and the brisket in your selections.
