Love visiting the team at Izumi both with groups or by myself. Absolutely entertaining for my nieces & nephew to take dishes off the belt & also get custom orders on the shinkansen/bullet train that goes around the top. I often stop in by myself in the evening on my way home from work as it is easy to get emails cleared & have a choice of fresh made food going past to make it a nice quick stop. Always something on the belt that I like which isn't hard as I love sushi. Friendly welcoming team who look after every customer walking in the door right through until you are finishing up. It was a very unique experience. The atmosphere was fantastic. The service isn't too great, they needed to improve a lot in that area. For example, upon serving dessert, the staff should serve it with the proper cutlery. Or at least the cutlery is hand reach if it's self-service. The food is fine, not the yummiest, but they're okay. Customer Service are just WOW! We were warmly greeted by the lovely wait staff and even the chef! The place is very busy and pretty booked so it’s a good call that we made a booking ahead. The place is quite small compared to other restaurants but the experience with the train and the conveyor belt is just amazing! All the staff are so helpful and honestly if I could give them more than 5 stars I would. I am giving 4 stars to the food because although it was delicious, I feel like they could add a little more plates on the belt because people get them so quickly and one may not enjoy it so much when they are seated in the middle or the end of the belt. However, they have a sushi menu where in you can customize your sushi when you can’t find what you like on the belt which is just plain genius! The food on the main menu is also immaculate (THE WAGYU BEEF TATAKI??!! Yuuuuum 😋🤤) Would definitely go back again with my friends and family! Nice place, fun sushi train with a real bullet train. Service is good, and usually a good variety of sushi Edit* changed to 3 starts, they now charge for Miso soup, prices are way too high and quality has gone down. Staff has told us that menu changes per season, we have been back in 3 different seasons and menu is the same, have been advised there are less options now… willWill likely not go back after that. Had sushi train here. Not a great selection, their nigiris aren't bad and the eel bowl was also not bad. Really not bad for Rotorua standard. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Amazing sushi train - my daughter and I thought the food was delicious and we received great customer service. Sushi was fresh and I ordered the Ramen too. Very filling. Wish we had something this cool in Wellington!

Such a nice place, very calming atmosphere. You just take food as it comes around the conveyor belt. Has a range of different meats as well as vegetarian options and desserts. There’s also options to order food that is not on the conveyor belt and that gets delivered via a train on top of the tables. Very lovely staff, would definitely come back.
