We've been here a few times whilst visiting Lake Taupo. The food, service, location and drinks are great. Make sure you book a table though, they get booked out pretty quick! Price per person $50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Pretty good pub food in a great spot! We had the fish & chips (friggin amazing batter) and pan fried fish on mash with creamy caper sauce. Both were really enjoyable. Service great. Pints a little on the expennie side but nice staff, good service and good atmosphere. Would cone back again 🙂 Price per person $50–60 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Great pub with good honest pub meals. You won’t leave hungry! Whether it’s a nice sunny day and you sit outside or inside by the fire you get Great Lake views. We didn’t check the opening hours and accidentally turned up 40 minutes early before opening (staff were prepping for the day). The super friendly bar guy popped out to the car and offered that we could have a coffee and hang outside until officially opened. That sums up the amazing service right there in my opinion. I was avoiding this place because I usually don't go to restaurants with reviews lower than 4.4. But, I decided to give it a chance since it was a few steps away from our accommodation, and I am glad I did because the food, atmosphere, and staff were amazing. We had two great burgers. One beef and one chicken. Both with a unique spin thanks to the toppings. The service was the best and our orders were delivered quickly. A bit out from the main part of town but a pleasant walk along the lakeside track.

Went for dinner with a mate. Food was good but the beer was a little expensive. Services great and efficient with friendly staff. A bit if a pity the sun beams in savagely from the west onto the outdoor table in summer. Food needed seasoning, had no taste very bland. Poor waiter was running around trying to do everything the poor thing. Need more staff to look after the customers. Service was very bad, had to wait for our drinks for 30mins and to order food was very slow. Won't be back due to bad service, food bland and there pastie is just a beef pie in shape of a pastie. If you are looking for hearty pub food, a stunning location and great value, this place gets one of the three spot on. The location is awesome. It used to be a top bar, I have been every year for about 9 years. Something bad has happened based on tonight's experience. The sign said full menu available. There was indeed a full menu. But hardly any of it was available - including the only vegetarian dish. Four different options before discovering one that hadn't run out. And we're talking 6:30 pm. Most of our party had eaten by the time the final dishes appeared. As it seems that they forgot two dishes. The fish in the the once great fish and chips appeared to have already eaten half of the chips without putting on a gram in weight- it was a pathetic child sized portion. A $25 child portion. Totally ridiculous. Next the porterhouse steak. About $45 and composed of a lot of gristle. Mushroom sauce was nice though. We had a child in the party who ordered sausage and mash from the kid's menu. An adult ordered the same from the main menu. The difference was about half a sausage and $12. Three of us had it (not as first choice) and it was extremely bland with tasteless sausages. The beef burger looked pretty good, but the Chicken burger was really poor, almost vegetarian with a tiny amount of chicken and just a nod to red onion. When I mentioned to the maitre d' (that is how she was referred to) that we were very disappointed with the lack of availability, the wait for food, the poor value - in particular of the $25 fish and chips, she just agreed and said she'd pass it on. This gets one star because the beer collection is awesome. This has been an annual stop for years now, but sorry Jolly Average fellows, we won't be back.

Great spot to sit on a hot sunny day, with amazing views of the lake. It was very well sheltered outside and plenty seats inside beside open windows to take advantage of breeze. Husband very happy with the local craft beer option and they even had Tennents lager on draft! A real thrill for my scottish husband. Staff incredibly friendly.
