Some confusion in TripAdvisor. This is the Kcuychi Hotel above the Kcuychi Restaurant at Avenida Imperio De Los Incas 505,|Machu Picchu, Peru. This was a comfortable budget hotel, our room overlooked the street so it was busy until 10 PM when everything closes down. We preferred the box lunch breakfasts with sandwich, fruit, water, and quinoa bar to coffee and bread. Host met us at train station and helped with lots of info. Location is right off main square, one block from central market. We're not big on TV but the cable had bilingual options on many channels. As with many smaller hotels in Peru, there is a service charge for credit/debate t cards, so we paid cash in Soles. I give it an extra star for the price, location, and the host meeting in our train.
Food was ok, the salad starter i.e. avacado vinegrate was actually not bad.
Set menu 25 soles, comes with starter choice of salad or soup. Main course are choices of fish trout / loin / beef steak / chicken (pollo). Main also had options of spaghetti or omelette.
Dessert (very small serving) are pancake (quarter piece) drizzled with honey or chocolate.
Homemade yellow peppers chilli sauce was tasty.
The earlier reviews about the eatery self add service charge is real, 30 soles added to our total bill of 145 soles. That is 20%.
Beware of the place!!!! They don't mention anything (and it doesn't say anything on the menu), but at the end they charged A SERVICE FEE OR TAX (they couldn't explain what was it) of almost 25%!!! Outrageous and unacceptable. We didn't have time to fight it cuz we were rushing to make it on train in time. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE, or at least make sure in advance...besides, the food was just ok. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!
AVOID this place. Food was mediocre towards bad. They didn’t accept card payment saying it will be 10% more. The tip was included directly in the bill and it was more than 20%. AVOID!!!
A waiter lied to me, falsely claiming that a competitor restaurant was closed so that he could attract my business. This restaurant does not seem to value honesty.
