We have been talking about this place ever since we came here for lunch yesterday. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely fantastic. We ordered the lo mein extra spicy and the braised tofu. Both were excellent, and the tofu dish was one of the best I've tried. We normally can never finish our food but we cleaned our plates!

I highly recommend going to this restaurant in a group, the larger the better. My girlfriend isn't adventurous so I went solo, but this type of food is really meant for sharing. It was Saturday, so no lunch specials, but I didn't want a lunch special anyway. I made due with spicy dandan noodles and amazing taste chicken. The portion of the amazing taste chicken appetizer was probably large enough to share with two others. I wish I had a vegetable but I didn't want to spend another $12 for a portion of, say, braised Chinese broccoli, because it probably would have been enough for three people. What I got was tasty. Neither dish was very spicy - I got no numbing from Szechuan peppercorn, and only a little chili heat. I don't know if I'll be back but I gave five stars anyway, because it is a good restaurant. If they come up with lunch specials that include Szechuan specialties instead of just the typical Chinese-American "General Tso's Chicken", etc. that I saw, that would definitely bring me back. Otherwise it's going to cost you $50 if you want to sample three or four things. Absolutely, Lao Sze Chuan is the best Sze Chuan style Chinese restaurant in Fairfield County in CT!!!! Their lunch specials can’t beat anywhere else for the qualities and pricing. If you know the great Chinese food, you’d better try them, you will see their authenticity and quality of cooking. Thank you for all these years of super delicious dishes serving, I will keep coming back to you as long as your business lasts. Some real good Szechuan cuisine here, in the most unassuming of places. The cumin lamb and Dan Dan noodles were particularly excellent.

After we were in the nearby new Chinese supermarket, were looking for a place to eat. When walked in, I was skeptical. But to my surprise, the food is quite authentic and good. The tea smoked duck was really good. Will be back to try other dishes.

Authentic Szechuan chinese food w/ good selection of Szechuan dishes. We ordered twice cooked pork belly, eggplant, fillets soup, pork w/ picked chili, all very tasty and mildly spicy.
