Randomly stopped for some food and the sandwiches are simple but delicious, the bread is so good, the cubano was worth the stop. Also grabbed a donut, different from donuts in the US, the texture is almost like a cross between a donut and bagel. The lady working there was very kind as we tried to understand each other.

Don’t let the name confuse you, it’s actually called “Melao Bakery” per the sign on the building. The lady who takes your order is as sweet as the pastries. The sandwiches are fresh and good. The coffee is made to order and by far top 3 I’ve had on the island. You have to try the quesitos. Hope to come back and find the lunch area operating. Definitely come get breakfast here if you’re staying in Loiza.
The bakery is so delicious and the coffee is balanced and nutty. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. We learned that this place has been running for over 40 years and is family owned where the family works at the bakery. Another thing that was very special is the level of the cleanness that the space had, the bathrooms also were sparkling clean. I highly recommend this bakery!
This was by far our favorite bakery we went to. The sandwiches, pastries, and coffee were all so good! The staff spoke limited English, but were so kind and so willing to help with our limited Spanish.
In one of the towns I love, Loiza. There was three attendance and We waited over 30 minutes for three breakfast sandwiches. Too long and no appologises. Very inexpensive. Great pastries.
On a bike ride through Loiza we stopped for a coffee and were super surprised on the donuts and coffee we were served. The donuts with Bavarian cream and cheese filling were outstanding!! Coffee delicious. We want to return.
If it wasn't because of a picture of the front of the bakery on Google we would have almost missed it because they don't have a sign with their name. I am guessing it was due to Maria Hurricane. And I'm glad we stopped here because el pan sobao was delicious. We have the scrambled eggs with ham and toasted butteres pieces of pan sobao. Delicious. We also got a tostada with queso de papa. Amazing. Will def recommend to stop by and eat here if you are in Loiza.
