Finally a place like this in Västerås. We were more than pleased when first visiting Magpie, homely atmosphere that goes unmatched in this town. No matter what you ordered of the menu, the food was top notch, which makes it hard to suggest anything in particular. I guess you simply have to come back, soon to manage to try it all. Great job with this restaurant, I know I’ll be seeing you a lot in the future. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person kr 300–400

Small and friendly neighbourhood restaurant. The menu was quite limited, small plates to share, but everything was very tasty and well put together. I think our overall favourite was the scallop tartar. In my opinion the wine and cocktails were not great but the rest of the table enjoyed theirs just fine. Nice evening out with friends. My new favourite restaurant. Really friendly and engaging staff who know their stuff, are helpful and have a lot of personality, which creates for a really relaxing atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the banter with the chef as I walked in, great stuff. The food is TO DIE FOR. We had 2 starters and 3 mains, all of which were so good , it’s hard to pick out a favourite dish. The beets with labneh are last-meal good. The Aloo chaat potatoes blew my mind - It’s potatoes with spices, how did Magpie make them taste so good? And the baked cabbage, I’m drooling like Homer just thinking about it. Its a great place and I can't wait to visit again.

We were a big party to come on Saturday for lunch and everything was amazing. We had a set menu which consisted of almost all the dishes on the menu to be shared between guests. Each dish was unique and interesting, but the main dishes were on another level. Meat, fish and poultry were cooked to perfection and it was great to be able to try everything. For the price, this is the best you can get out of your money in Västerås, by far. Will definitely come back and would highly recommend. * we visited the restaurant 11 months ago but the review hasn't gone up for some reason so reposting now. My wife and I had booked a table for two and when we arrived we got seated at a table of 4 with two strangers who were there for a birthday dinner. It gave us an incredibly awkward dinner experience because multiple people came to congratulate the birthday boy and leaned over our food across the table or reached over my head and behind my back to hug that guy. After the third time it really put a damper on the dinner experience for us sadly. Now to the food: We shared 3 starters: oxfile tartare, sashimi and cauliflower. None of them were particularly good or something we would order again. The sashimi was lying in a bath of cold cream that just wasn’t pleasant in our opinion. The other dishes weren’t bad but also not good, just kind of average and nothing to write home about. The main dish we tried at Magpie was Gös with lobster bisque, that was delicious and really well seasoned. Fish cooked to perfection. We finished off with 2 desserts, the sea buckthorn sorbet wasn’t smooth although tasty, it had an icy texture. The desserts were alright. Wine was pretty good. Wow wow wow! Vilken fantastisk upplevelse! Allt från maten till servicen och atmosfären i lokalen var fantastiskt. En väldigt liten lokal som var fullsatt vid vårt besök, men som inte upplevdes stimmig eller att man hade svårt att prata med varann. Varenda rätt gav en smakexplosion i munnen. Så otroligt genomtänkta rätter och även skönt att de verkligen fokuserar på huvudingrediensen i huvudrätterna istället för att servera sides till. Servicen var som sagt också fantastisk. Avslappnad och hon hade koll på när vi var klara eller när vinet i glaset var slut. Priserna är relativt höga men efter att ha ätit där så var det värt varandra krona och vi skulle lätt betalt mer om det var så för den här upplevelsen! Möts av väldigt trevlig personal när vi kliver in som visar oss till vårat bord. Enkel och bra beskrivning om hur restaurangens koncept är tänkt med att rätterna delas och förslag på antal rätter. Bra tips på dryck efter våra önskemål. Maträtterna serveras i lagom takt och smakar väldigt bra. Lokalen är dock väldigt liten och det kan lätt bli stimmigt med ljudnivån samt att man lätt nästan blir som del e sällskap bredvid vid vissa bord.
