First time coming here and the food was really reasonable, we ordered breakfast and the pancakes were huge, coffee was excellent too, the only downfall is breakfast is served till 1pm. Friendly atmosphere with comfortable seating and I liked the fact that they told us to seat ourselves, not to many restaurants these days let you do that. I love quaint places that are locally owned with fabulous food and a neighbor knows neighbors atmosphere. Mikes place is that. I have not been there in decades and going back with newer management still had that close feel of home. And the food was great! Also I had root beer in addition to what’s in the picture. First time visiting the place. Found a table at a busy time, always a plus. Served right away, and food came fast and hot. Coffee was fresh. We tried the chicken dumpling soup, excellent did want to bring a quart home! Also, tuna melt and BLT, so we went halfsies. The breakfast coming out looked great, too, with large portions. This is a good diner to grab a pretty good meal. I always get really good service here. The coffee is ok. The prices are great. And the food is pretty good. Today, I had their potato pancakes. Worst tasting food. It was good for the money. Had to ask for coffee, only got 2 cups all the while we were there. The second cup I had to ask for. Food was good. It dis get busy and many tables needed to be cleared. Received cheese nuggets that were ice cold in the middle, sent it back and were told that they were "new," but they reheated them. These aren't new nuggets. Also, my club chicken sandwich was heavily drenched in mayonnaise. Not a good first time experience. Update: Later that same evening, I had gotten food poisoning. Unseasoned food, ordered to go for the chicken dumpling soup, sausage and bisctus Benedict with hashbrowns, and a side of corned beef hash. The soups to go container lid MELTED into the soup and had cracked plastic in the soup, spilled inside the bag. I attempted to get all the pieces out tasted a sip and the soup was SOUR. The side of corned beef hash tasted old, not even salt or pepper seasoning. The sausage and eggs Benedict was tasty, the eggs I had were over easy and cooked perfectly, the biscuits were dry, I added my own seasoning to the hashbrowns as again NOT seasoned at all. Definitely not worth the 30$ as most of it ended up in the trash. I will be making a call to the food inspectors (auditor) about the plastic lid in my soup.
