Small and quaint place. Sushi was good. Kids' meals were okay. Oldest and husband ordered the spicy curry ramen, it was really good!! I ordered the spicy chicken ramen, there was spice, but it lacked flavor. We took home about 3/4 of mine and 1/2 of my son's, mixed them for lunch the next day, delicious! I was stationed in Japan from '04-'06 (Air Force) & I've gone to a lot of different Japanese restaurants here Stateside in an attempt to capture some of the culinary magic I had experienced in the restaurants over there. Mikoto in Southlake is the ONLY Japanese restaurant I've visited here in the U.S. which consistently gives me legit feelings of nostalgia for the restaurants I had the pleasure of experiencing 20 years ago. The ramen was very good! It’s really close to Japanese ramen! Hoshi ramen Keller’s ramen wasn’t good at all, it was oily and the flavor was totally different. The price is cheaper but l prefer coming here. Also the owner replies to the reviewers which is nice. I wanted to greet her but she was in Japan. Next time! What a spot for a quick grab of food. Excellent service with waiters and waitresses who are attentive, but not too pushy. Clean establishment with cute decorations inside. Authentic Japanese vibes strong with this one Price is reasonable, food was great. I like how the ramen wasn’t too greasy or oily. My favorite: Spicy Donkatsu Ramen I love the salmon rolls! Update: June 2023 The young male waiter (Hanbin I think) knows what he is doing and super fast w/ his service. I like to usually order quick, eat and immediately get out, he let’s me do exactly that. I try to tip him well. Hope his work is recognized
PROs: Great location and ambience. Quaint but small establishment. Great food and friendly customer service. Plenty of parking. Price is on point. We had the GyuDonB2, ramens: Mega Pork & Spicy Chicken and 1 soda, with tip just under $60. Our order was quick. We opted out on Sushi because of the long wait. CONs: Just a few waiting seats behind hostess stand. Otherwise you will wait standing immediately at the front door inconveniently upon someone's table. 1st time visit Saturday evening. Waiting by the front door. There were a couple of unbused tables. Took awhile for a few parties to be seated, the rest remained standing at the door. Overall experience was pleasant but we'll try the place again before it gets busy. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20
Stopped at this spot for lunch on a Friday and it wasn't busy for 1pm. I had the spicy edamame, Sexy Beach roll & the Chicken Miso Ramen. The edamame wasn't really spicy but the chili gave it more flavor. Sexy Beach roll was good! It's the one thing I would order again. However, I wish it was made with real snowcrab instead of imitation. The Chicken Miso Ramen's chicken chashu appeared to have been cold, shaved rotisserie chicken laid on top. It had a light miso flavor and the chicken broth kind of overpowered it. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $30–50
Great place. I came here with my kids. Ordered a few different things. Fried Gyoza were fine. They're not the reason to come. We had a couple of rolls, which were done well, and my son ordered the shrimp tempura. The main attraction was the black garlic ramen. It was incredible. Broth was velvety, and the chonshu pork was excellent. I have to also mention the staff which was very polite and attentive. We're all excited to go back Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30
The place is a hidden gem in Southlake. The food was very tasty and fresh. We tried both the salmon and the ramen and they were both delish! The have a good selection of both mild and spicy. The sake they have both in house ($9 for the larger) or they have some others sparkling ($16). The place is on the smaller side, but it has booth, tables and sushi bar seating. There is street parking both in front and towards the back. In overall the service was good. I just felt a bit rushed, but I think it's because of the size of the place, they probably try to keep people moving. For two people we pay $60 and had each a bowl of ramen, shared a sushi, ice cream, and a large bottle of house sake. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30

I tried Mikoto today for the first time. The food was delicious and our server was very friendly and attentive. The sushi rolls were very well displayed and the ramen bowls were attractive. I decided to add on an order of spring rolls and they ended up being perfect! They were golden and flaky with a fresh tasting sweet chili sauce. Price - I feel like Mikoto is about on par with what you’d find for Sushi and Ramen restaurants. Not cheap, but not overly expensive either. One drawback is the space for interior dining is somewhat small. I disliked being seated so close to other tables (if you’re sitting in the middle tables). This appeared to be less of a problem in the booths. Overall, a good experience. Delicious food and great service.
