What a place! We misunderstood their times, and arrived for dinner as they were about to close. The waitress disappeared for a few moments and then said that they would be happy to host us. We were sitting outside, so once we had our meals, our drinks were replenished, they made sure that we knew the way to our cars, and they closed the restaurant! We were left in the beautiful environment that remained lit, with background music, and could stay as long as we pleased!!!! Where else could one hope to find that????
The meals were great - superb pizzas and burgers, and fabulous ribs. The prices were really reasonable. Great service! I would return in a flash!
The location is beautiful...set in the middle of a forest just outside of Plettenberg Bay...and it's pet-friendly with an outdoor smoking section. There is also an enclosed and safe play area for children.
I will certainly return when next I am in the area!

Lovely padstal with very nice little shop, the restaurant is beautiful, and food was good, except for the service it was not up to scratch, our waitress disappeared for quite some time then got the order confused.... otherwise, it was a nice peaceful place.

A very good, first impression. Very tasty food with excellent chips and a very friebdly and attentive service. The ambiente inside was true South african Farm stable as advertised and additionally outside was lenty of playground for the kids provided. We can only recommend it. Thank you very much

We thought… this is MOSS a lekker idea for the 1st of January with the family. Take the kids to MOSS and MAPLE for a recovery lunch after New Year’s.
We MOSS made a big mistake.
And oh boy… did we recover! We had a whole two hours to recover on our seats waiting for only our drinks to arrive.
We MOSS asked a couple of times for an update on our order, but not much changed.
I hope it’s a New Year’s curse for their service, but we did not have a great time! We won’t be coming back here.
MOSS and MAPLE - more like MISS and MAPLE!

If you have youngish kids who love playgrounds while you eat this is the place to come. The play area is fenced in and well equipped to let your children run feral. Even on a raining day it was enjoyed

Fantastic, kid friendly, spacious place. Our new favourite stop on the N2. The highlight is obviously the huge, unique play area and the fact that there is both indoor and outdoor space for kids to play. You can see the facilities were designed by someone who knows kids. Plus, decent pizza, lovely milkshakes (try cookies and cream flavour!) and service that felt genuinely warm and friendly. Farm stall with plenty of handmade and homemade stuff, including cute Afrikaans stuff.
Groups without kids can sit on the other side of the stoep and enjoy the view of the forest, river and pond. Looks like you could also take a little walk. So refreshing compared to most roadside stops.

Wow after searching Plett for a kid friendly place with a decent play area, we were so happy to spot Moss & Maple from the side of the road. We followed the signs in and it was a pleasant surprise!
Plenty of parking outside. You are greeted at the door by two swings that you just have to take the tourist photo before walking in. Upon entering we were blown away by the venue. Absolutely stunning. Wooden floors, walls and ceilings. Big space with seating all around the venue, indoor and outdoor. We headed straight for the huge outdoor play area. The kids spent the next two hours playing and loving the enclosed play area.
So much for the kids to enjoy. The play area was quite safe and surrounded by a fence to keep the kids from getting out. There was also an undercover play section along with a large grass area with ponds and a nice water feature.
We tried the breakfast and it really was worth every penny. The lady that waited on us was fantastic and informative. We appreciated the conversation and advice on other attractions in the area that we could visit.
Inside the building there was a curio shop with all sorts of farm stall goodies. It was a really pleasant experience and perfect for parents with small kids that need to burn off energy in a play area.
We were looking for a place to have lunch with our three year old and stumbled across this place. The food was amazing, our waiter went above and beyond to meet all our needs and they had a huge play area where our three year old could play as well as free pony rides. The owner was also very nice. We would recommend this place anytime.

For families with kids a great place to spend some time and have some refreshments: huge playground, ponies, kid-friendly staff, a lot of shaded sitting spots....I just wouldn't eat here! The food was the worst, we had since coming to South Africa. Our party of four had the beef/bacon burger (not edible, the meat seemed of poor quality), the fish and the pork ribs (were ok). The patty of vegetarian burger was decent, but the fries were also rather underwhelming....
So have some fun there with your kids, have a drink...and go for lunch and dinner somewhere else.
