What a wonderful find! Restaurant was recommended by a local. Huge portions! Fish- the small portion was bigger than a large fish anywhere else. Ordered sweet potatoes chips- great choice. Calamari salad, also well worth it. Great atmosphere too. Hostesses were polite and very helpful. One can bring your own wine as they don't have a liquor licence. This is honestly the BEST fish & and chips I have ever had. We stopped on a road trip back to Cape Town and ordered some lunch for the road. The venue is simple, but you can immediately tell there has been a lot of love that has been put into how it's run. The fish was fresh, the batter crispy and lightly flavored with herbs and salt. The cips were crisp and crunchy. All this wholesome goodness comes in a cardboard box and not a Styrofoam container. Service Take out Meal type Lunch

Where the locals eat. Little gem of a place tucked away near the railway line. Very easy access from the N2. Parking in the street. Fresh fish prepared on the premises. From time to time it happens that the are sold out. Hand cut chips fried to perfection. I was amazed at how friendly and efficient the waiters was. The table next to me was very demanding, but every single request was speedily executed. Prices very reasonable. I'm not a great fish eater but would recommend Mr Kaai in a heartbeat. It's a family favourite for hake, shellfish, calamari, and prawns. Accompanied with crisp salads, a variety of fries and rice, and lso serving chicken pops and strips. We're never turn down the treat, regulars. Book in advance if you'd like to enjoy a charming eat-in experience. As takeaways are the busiest, and to keep prices low, you only pay an eat-in fee.
