I love this place and have been enjoying their donuts since I was a child! You want a classic donut that is yhe right consistency than look no further. My only draw back is they can be closed or not open during posted business hours randomly. Since it has been ran by the same people for the past 30yrs I can imagine extra days off are needed sometimes.

I was craving donuts, wanted something better than Dunkin Donuts. There’s not really any good donut places in Minnesota. There’s no longer Krispy Kreme, which in my opinion was the best donut place. However, the donuts from this shop were very good. I got an order of 12 assorted. Donuts tasted very fresh & not dry (like Dunkin Donuts). I was impressed honestly, and the lady that helped me was very nice & patient with me (was my first time there). I definitely recommend giving this place a go.
Don't believe their public hours. Never open in the morning. 4 times in a row
Edit after response from owner
The 4 attempted visits were over 3 months. There was one and only once successful attempt during the entire time.
It sucks being sick, hospitalized and understaffed; I know because I also hire and recruit and deal with labor. But you run a business, so run a business. Actually have a social media presence and update that. Have correct and updated times rather than taping a piece of paper on the door. And don't clap back because someone points out your practices.

Great place and service! I needed to get donuts early for a work event and was able to pick them up on time! Thanks again!

They never seem to be open. I've never heard of a bakery that keeps bankers hours. Good donuts though.

Truly great donuts. These donuts are "what you see is what you get", mom & pop, classic variety. If you want something that looks like an art project, go to Glam Doll. If you want the sterile Starbucks experience, go to Cardigan. But if you want fantastic classic donuts done right, go here.
Exhibit A: the bavarian cream. Sure, it's easy to make what is essentially sugar, vanilla and eggs taste ok. But you see one in the Cub Foods donut case and it looks deflated and depressed. The ones here are perky and you don't have to bite through 60% of the donut before sighting cream. And the taste is elevated; the vanilla comes through really well.
Exhibit B: The glazed cake donut. Such a simple joy. You bite into it and realize the glaze isn't trying to hide anything. You can still taste the donut's donuttiness, a Goldilocks of cake texture that's perfectly moist with a tiny hint of salt.
If I'm fawning a little much, it's because I've been looking for a place like this ever since moving back to Minneapolis. Great job, staff!
Oh man, this little donut shop in Lamplighter Square sells super delicious donuts. Their maple cinnamon roll is to die for. Well, to be truthful, all of their donuts are equally as good.. Decent prices to boot and friendly service.
We have driven past this place many many times but never made an attempt to stop in...just seen a write up in the Post about this being their 40th anniversary so on Valentines morning, I rushed out to get my daughters and wife a few dounuts. WOW, super delicious. I now know where my go-to donut shop is! Awesome!
