Olive Rose Vineyard and Farm Kitchen - visited 6 Jan 2024 Love this place! A hidden gem! Ambiance - homey, Italian, family-style dining. Mismatched furniture, mixed Filipino antique and farmhouse chic. Di ba, simple but sophisticated. And while the afternoon sun was blazing outside, we were cool and comfy inside. They have outdoor sitting at the second floor of the detached building, with the majestic Batulao view. Service - the head of the house, the Chef, is owner Arlene Oliveros. She is a certified sommelière, a fine wine expert, and most of all, super passionate about making Nasugbu the Philippine version of Napa Valley. Oh di ba! She personally welcomed us to the resto, gave a masterful introduction of what the place is all about. What a great appetizer! The service is personalized and full of cuento, every dish has some tale she tells. Arlene is a master storyteller! Ansaya! Food - we got the set menu (priced at P950 per head) complete with bread, choice of soup or salad, main course (a good set of options!), and dessert. Not bad the pricing ha. Definitely not the pricing for the usual locals in the area, pero I would say super worth it. I loved the minestrone and the porkchop mains, my partner thought the seafood pasta was superb. Hey the corn bread with butter appetizer was also good! They have other options pa for brunch which we will come back for soon. So for the Tagaytay visitors who want something different, stretch your imagination a bit and kembot your comfort zones, another 10 minutes pass the artificially glamorized Twin Lakes, you can have this unique Filipino-Italian experience called Olive Rose Vineyard and Farm Kitchen. It wasn’t our plan to visit here but we saw their sign along the road and we decided to turn back and try their food. Best decision ever! My husband and I decided to get their 3-course meal for 950 per head. We had the following: STARTERS Bread and butter 6/5 ✨ They have an artisan pastry chef who makes their breads from scratch using locally produced yeast and 100% butter. Their sourdough and rye bread are good, but the cheese bread was my favorite and I would honestly come back just for that. Vineyard Salad - 5/5 ✨ Everything was so fresh and Ilove the crunchy bits! Eating the salad felt like an adventure bc of the different textures and pleasant flavors that were tied so deliciously with their strawberry vinaigrette. It was so good that I politely-but-persistently asked Arlene (Olive Rose’s owner, exec chef, and sommelier) if I could buy a bottle. Thankfully they have a bottle available for purchase in store! Minestrone 4/5 ⭐️ I only had a bite bc my husband slurped the soup too fast 🥲 The soup has a deep flavor, but not overpowering. He said it could be a full meal on its own bc it had both proteins and carbs. MAIN Porkchop with couscous 4/5 ⭐️ Husband said the flavor was great (and I agree, I asked for several bites lol) but the meat was not as tender as he hoped. Couscous was a new experience for him but he said he would have preferred rice. 😅 Seafood Pasta 6/5 🌟 This was the best for me!!! The authentic seafood flavor from the shrimp, mussels, and clams are all over the pasta. The shrimp was deveined and cooked to perfection. The serving was hearty and can feed up to three people I think. DESSERT Buco Salad Pie 4/5 🌟 A unique take on the popular buko pie. It was sooo good but so bitin 😭 Vineyard chocolate cake 5/5 🌟 It’s not too sweet, which was a massive plus for me and my husband. It was getting dark by the time we had this, and bc I wanted to savor it more, I took home some haha DRINKS Toso Monferrato Dolchetto DOC 5/5 🌟 This is red wine but Arlene was right, it wasn’t offensive at all when taken with the seafood pasta! It paired perfectly with the porkchop, too. Brewed coffee (Panamanian Geisha, light roast) 100/5 🌟 Raymond (owner, brew master, roast master, and amazing host of Olive Rose) recommended this to us after we told him that we are going on a long drive after we dine. Daaang it opened my eyes to a whole new world of coffee!!! He brewed it perfectly—it had a complex but balanced flavor of bitterness, sweetness, slight acidity, and novel fruit notes with a pleasant earthy aftertaste. I wanted to get 100g of his own roasted Panamanian geisha coffee beans, but he said that he can’t sell them due to extremely limited supply. 😢 I would treat my friends and family here if they are willing to travel this far lol Price per person ₱2,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I should've visited this restaurant earlier because it is so far the best I've been to. I just live 300 meters away from the place and this hidden gem should be made famous! The food is superb. 10/10! I ordered Pesto Penne Pasta and it was such a delight. The great flavors just exploded in my mouth. The taste of fresh basil, garlic, flavourful cheese, and olive oil is just a magical experience. Plus, their barako coffee with carabao milk makes the place feel like home despite its wide array of Filipino and international cuisine. Hats off as well to their complimentary sourdough bread made from sugarcane yeast! Meanwhile, the owners are very very accomodating. World-renowned wine expert and Michelin Star Chef Arlene and his lovely husband Raymond make the dining experience here noteworthy. Their care for their customers would really make you come back for more! Another thing that makes this place remarkable is its location. Just along the Nasugbu-Tagaytay road with the majestic view of Mt. Talamitam in front and Mt. Batulao at the back, it gives a country-side laidback vibes that is so relaxing, makes you enjoy the food more. I will definitely visit more often!! You should too!! Certainly one of the best restaurants I've been to. It serves Filipino-International cuisine, and every course has its unique taste that you rarely find elsewhere. Their brewed coffee is my new personal favorite! I love how versatile the taste is in every sip. Taste it for yourself! Makes a perfect partner for their very own buko salad pie. To add, the owners were very welcoming to guests. I highly appreciate how they told stories about their food which makes it special. You'd really get your money's worth. My family enjoyed our lunch! Visiting here since May this year, and so far the experience have never been better as I visit more. Aside from the high quality food and coffee, the knowledge that the owner shares makes dining here exceptionally satisfying. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
