We ordered the appetizer sampler (cheese curds, pretzel bites, fried mushrooms), chicken & waffles, eggs with sausage, side of bacon, side of fried potatoes & a cup of baked potato soup. Appetizers came out in an adequate amount of time, but we waited over 45 minutes for our main entrees. The egg on my chicken & waffles was clearly raw & had uncooked egg whites, with very dry waffles. The eggs on the breakfast entree was supposed to be over easy but was also a bit raw; the sausage was definitely a frozen patty & the fried potatoes were burnt to a crisp. I had such high hopes for the food, especially after the very long wait. The potato soup was extremely watery and sad. The server (Amanda S.) was really not on her A-game either & it wasn’t particularly busy at this time. She had me try ice cold coffee because she picked up the closest carafe. She also rarely checked on us or asked if we liked the food. She did give me cream & sugar for my coffee at first but never again after that for my refills. $61 for a crappy experience. Excellent service and a great variety of unique takes on American bar offerings. We stayed simple and had our regulars and were well pleased. The club was good with well toasted bread. The chicken club was very good as well. Boneless wings were simple but worth taking home the leftovers. The fries were different but very tasty even though they lacked in texture. The beer offerings were great with many local beers and a take home option as well. The liquor bar was limited but had everything you needed. The kitchen is understaffed, so it took us a LONG time to be seated. (I was surprised they didn’t shut down carry out orders to make sure their servers made more money) Thankfully the food was worth the wait!!! The fried mushrooms and cheese curds were FIRE! We had a party of 9 on for a late lunch on Friday, 11/24/23. There wasn’t too long of a wait! The service was great. Plenty of parking. Relaxed vibes inside, very orange and blue, in support of the Astros. Love the story behind the name—it’s in memory of the owner’s sweet pup. Here’s what I tried: - Pickle Fries ($9): Good, but prefer the mushrooms. - Fried Portobello Mushrooms ($9): Super good!! - The Astro Burger ($11) with sweet potato fries: The burger was great! I also tried the regular fries, and I actually liked those better than the sweet potato fries. A few of the beers we ordered were out, but everyone ended up liking what they got. And we were able to sample them before committing. Great food, great service, great prices. We’d definitely go back! Very busy on a Friday! Host immediately sat our party in the patio area with Heat. We had 20 & our server was Marley -she treated us with Amazing service! She had our drinks out so quick! Took our order and our food came out hot and all together! She never stopped! Great lil hang out inside with a Bar area. Clean restrooms and funky fun vibe with merch for sale! Close to the interstate ramps and gasoline. Other eateries are around so parking was a bit hard to find for some. We parked pretty easily. We had a plethora of different items and it all looked good. I personally had the Chims-Fish & Chips. Tasty but I would had just requested a lighter batter. My guy had the Trooper Burger with a fried egg-he loved it! Minus bun and he loved it! Family told us about this place and it is everything they promised and more. Sunday morning breakfast and service was speedy and the food was excellent. Biscuits and gravy had to be some of the best I've ever had. Loads of big chunks of flavorful sausage smothering two fist sized biscuits. Also on the platter--two great tasting medallions of that same sausage. Her french toast was the great combination of firm and soft. Peyton was a fantastic server who kept the coffee full and was super friendly to the single older gentleman near our table. This is the kind of place every neighborhood eatery should try to emulate. Our favorite restaurant in town, & THE best burgers! Highly recommend the 4 OHM & King Diamond, but literally every menu item is delicious! My mom had never had garlic aioli, & she loved the King Diamond so much, she asked the server to tell the cook that it was the best burger she’s ever eaten — kudos to Christian! We stopped and got a couple burgers from Oscar's after hearing several good things from a friend. We placed an order over the phone and they had the food waiting when we arrived. While we didn't stay to eat at the restaurant, it looked clean, bright, and well maintained, with some outdoor seating available as well. Our burgers and sweet potato fries were still nice and warm once we stopped to have them. While the fries weren't very crispy, they had a great flavor and were cooked well, which isn't always the case with sweet potato fries. The spicy sauce that came with the fries was a great compliment as well. The burgers themselves were excellent. I'm not always a huge fan of thick patty burgers, but these were perfectly cooked and juicy, with excellent, fresh toppings. We both got the C. O. C. Burger and we were very impressed. We stopped here when we were traveling through Barboursville and it was amazing! First, I spoke to the owner via email about my concerns when it comes to preparing gluten free options (I have celiac disease). He was very friendly and assured me that they take all the necessary precautions. When we arrived we were seated within minutes and had the best waitress. Emma W was very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable when it came to cross contamination and having my food prepared safely. We will definitely return whenever we are in the area.
