I and my mom were the only people in the restaurant, we didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive.
Deer soup had that slight sweetness in it, but it had that nice feeling, like the feeling of being at home infront of the fireplace. It's a great choice! The main dish and desert was fine for me.

Beef was really good: 9out of 10,but vegetables:( Overall the serving of the main dishes should be improved. The look of the main dish doesn't look attractive.

An excellent rustic restaurant located in a 700-year-old historic building, the Castle of the Livonian Order, which allows it to house a very unique atmosphere and ambience. Best comparable to perhaps a pub or a beer cellar.
If you appreciate history, architecture and have a taste for interesting experiences, Pilskrogs could be your next spot.
The menu is diverse, the food we ordered was tasty, hearty and authentic. The service was of equally high quality, delivered by polite and friendly waitresses.
I highly recommend for anyone to eat or drink here at least once during your stay in Ventspils. It gives you a unique experience and insight into the Latvian/Livonian heritage, you will feel it in the walls. All in all, you will not be disappointed.

Worst food in Latvia, portions were small, deer soup was tasteless, big pprtion was like small in other places. King Lamb we got 3bites of meat, a lot of potatoes, but souce was all over fries, so it became soggy and unedibble Service was OK, but the waitress was not speaking english.
The interior was nice and cozy.

Saw the place from the street. Inside was crowded so we sat outside, they provided blankets. Waiting time was long, about 50 minutes. Prices seemed very cheap but unless the side dish is included in the main courses description you pay extra for the side dish. Toilet has poor lighting.

What a great atmosphere, waiters polite and professional, food delicious. Me and the family where happy. I ordered pork belly which was just amazing, my boyfriend ordered salmon he was also happy with his choice, kids got some French fries and cheesy bites. Portions were big enough and as at the time wasn't busy we got our order quite fast. The place is dog friendly and there is also games for kids to keep them busy. All together we really enjoyed our time there and we will definitely return.

The food was incredibly tasty, the price was great and the staff were very kind and were always smiling! Totally recommend this place if you are visiting Ventspils.

Food was not good at all. Sashlik with lots of fatty pcs, not grilled at all. Baked/steamed in oven. Nice surroundings, but don't waste your money to come here.
