Finally stopped at this shop after passing by on my way to Seguin numerous times. I left kicking myself for not having stopped sooner. Great atmosphere! Especially if you’re into the “ good ole days” feel of a small space with an open counter and the smell of awesome BBQ. The ladies working the counter were super friendly. But the real test was the BBQ and it did not disappoint. The brisket was spot on but I was most impressed by the chicken which I personally think is one of the most challenging proteins to get right on the pit. Me and wifey are already making plans to go back even though it’s an hour away.

Bark on the brisket is unreal 4.7 moist brisket. Sausage is great German sausage, but I prefer spicy 4.2 on the sausage. Sides were good, but nothing to write home about.
Stopped in at Pioneer BBQ this afternoon for a late lunch on my way back to San Antonio and Glad I did. I ordered the Rib and Turkey plate with Firecracker corn and Pinto Beans. The Ribs where so tasty and tender perfectly cooked very moist and meaty the Turkey was smoked well and had that back yard BBQ taste I am familiar with just so tasty this lunch was the side orders where just as good I was thinking on peach cobbler but I ended up taking a 1/4 pound of Brisket for Dinner instead. If you are in the Nixon area Stop in at Pioneer for Great BBQ!
While doing some contracting work in Nixon, I was invited to eat lunch at Pioneer BBQ, and needless to say, it was amazing! We all had different plates and they all looked delish! I had the chopped brisket sandwich and it was so flavorful and delicious. We also had the peach cobbler a-la-mode, yum, and when it was all said and done, we could hardly walk, much less work, lol!! The place is small with only a handful of tables so get there early. Also the restaurant closes as soon as they run out of BBQ so just heads up on that. So if you're in the area, go give them a visit, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Great Atmosphere. Ordered the two meat plate. Brisket and Ribs. Brisket was awesome and moist. Ribs I usually don't get them but glad I did. Sides were potato salad and beans. Which were both great. If I were ever in this area again would definitely stop in again and strongly recommend
Good food! Had the chicken and ribs plate, it was the special of the day, awesome portions! Food was hot and delicious! Will definitely be back, and don't let the outside of the building throw you off... It's definitely a hole in the wall kinda place... But worth stopping by and giving it a try!
Great little BBQ joint! I had a chopped brisket sandwich, the corn, and smoked peach cobbler. Wow, it was all so good! The smoked peach cobbler was a real treat!

Not a fancy place, but the brisket sandwich was fantastic. The potato salad recipe was different (looked like dill) but tasted great. Unfortunately, they were out of the famous peach cobbler.
