We had the most amazing 3 course meal here tonight. The food was absolutely amazing, the drinks were very enjoyable and the outdoor seating area made the night here for sure. The starters are the venison and octopus. The mains are the seafood pasta and Hapuka. Desserts are the mango sorbet and Belgium chocolate pot. Drinks are berry cider and fejoa sour. Date: 28/12/23. On holiday from Wellington and staying in Waipapa we decided we wanted to have a nice dining experience so we booked online and was seated at a nice table with views of the river, the Old Stone House and the Wharewaka. Frontline service was great, fantastic table service - quick and professional. We had venison and octopus for starters, excellent and couldn’t decide which one we loved more! We paired our meal with some lovely red wine - Kanui Tempranillo and Syrah. For dinner my partner had the hapuka (fish) & I had the Thai Chicken. Yum yum yum! Full of flavour and gorgeous plating. Dessert was steam pudding and chocolate mousse - delicious! We watched the meals come out and it appears to be something for ever! Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed and money well spent. We had an awesome meal. We did a bit of everything but unfortunately could not fit in the lamb shoulder. We saw it at other tables and it looked awesome and the looks on people's faces confirmed it was probably great. However...... We did have octopus, the best brocoli we have ever had, travali sushimi (yum yum yum), beef croquettes to rival Spain (if you have ever had then there you know what i mean). We also had the lager, the saison (they let you try the beer first which was helpful as they have a great range) and the temperanillo red (delicious) The owner has his own winery / brewery and after trying the beers and wines during dinner, we are going to check that out. Its called Kainui. Its not a cheap place but very cheap for the quality of everything and the service was also awesome as was the view and restaurant. Go there! The produce is fresh and cooked to perfection, fresh greens, entree fresh oysters, excellent fillet steak with a glass of wine. Whoever's in the kitchen is taking their role seriously. Comprehensive wine and drinks list with front of house staff taking active pride in what they do. If you want a nice, relaxed place to dine in Kerikeri it's excellent value. Absolutely beautiful place by the water. Outside terraces with heaters are open from 12 pm forward and you have pizza, burger etc. Menu and bar available. The restaurant is open from 5 pm forward and has vast menu. We came at 2 pm and had very good pizza and burger. The tiramisu was the best! Thank you! Exceptional! I would not eat anywhere else in Kerikeri. We had New Years here and it was so good, I went back on new years day with a girlfriend for lunch. Outstanding food, service and views of the inlet and right across from the historic Stone Store. Back here again. Best hot wings in the North! Went to the Garden Bar on a Sunday afternoon unfortunately very disappointed. Not that busy. You seat yourself and order from outside bar. Basic selection burgers, pizza or fish and chips. Ordered the fish, over cooked and over priced. Tables weren't cleared. Nice setting sitting outside under the trees by the inlet. Won't be rushing back.
