The best part of driving past Kaikōura… Poppy’s Parlor.. too good . Made our afternoon drive back to Christchurch worth coming home to ❤️we will always stop by this place for ice cream

Very cute pink shop front that is hard to miss. Young kids like to hang out outside too. Besides ice cream, they sell other sweet indulgences for those with sweet tooth. We went in for the ice cream. Service is great!

The portions were big but I liked the hokey pokey ice cream I had in Wellington better.
Also only cash if you are a tourist!

Was really looking forward to a great looking ice cream parlour, unfortunately we were not able to buy as we are tourists, and the shop does not accept any non NZ issued cards of any kind. I understand there are fees involved but seems to make no sense to turn away custom...
Edit: reduced from 2 stars to 1 due to the obvious hostility of the response from the owner.
We could see that there was a cash point outside which charged over a 10% fee to withdraw cash as we looked at this option.
We have travelled across New Zealand these last 2 weeks and have never not been able to pay on one of our cards. We could read the signs hence why we didn't enter the establishment, looking back I'm thankful that we did not part with any money to an obviously anti-tourist policy.

Both of our ice cremes had quite a lot of ice cristals in them. Seems like there was a mistake when storing the ice creme sorts that we picked. Had way better ice cremes so far but might just be bad luck in off season.

Icecream was absolutely amazing every bite. Customer service was super friendly. I would definitely recommend to any stopping by.

Only NZ cards accepted.... 🥺 I've never seen a business discriminate so openly. And from the comments it is clear she had one bad experience and now takes it out on all foreigners. Sad to see in 2023
Cash only would be better and less agressive signs outside your store and less passive agressive comments would be way better for your business. I'm one of multiple so maybe take the feedback.

Poppy's Parlour just recently opened for the summer. Decent portion of ice cream scoops. I ordered a raspberry milkshake and it was definitely a whole meal for me. Very worth a try.
