We came in just before closing on a public holiday and had one of the best Indian meals in New Zealand. We got the butter chicken and paneer kadhai and both were excellent especially the kadhai! The food was so good I forgot to take a picture of the dishes, but here’s a picture of our empty plates. So good we got every little bit. Not a fancy restaurant with the usual Indian music and incense, which is actually a plus! The food was fantastic especially the various nan breads. The three different chicken curries we ordered were very tasty! Best Indian cuisine I have had for a long time. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We wished to take our children aged 11 years and 9 years for a meal. We were happy with the holiday surcharge. Sat down. Read the menu. The kids picked what they wanted. The wait person arrived. We started ordering. Then we were rudely told under 9 were children and our children had to order adult . We asked why and couldn't be told why our kids were all of a sudden adult. So we promptly left. We had purposely come to hokitika just for an Indian meal. Won't be recommending this place to anyone. We have enjoyed meals here for 8 years. Maybe new owners? It was less enjoyable due to the really bad food. The meals lacked flavor and quality. The menu promised tasty options, but the reality fell short. Everything here was great, top to bottom. The service was quick and excellent, priced well for the quality of the food. The specified spice levels of the dish were perfect as well. Delicious Indian food with vegetarian/vegan options. The staff were so friendly and helpful when I asked about vegan options. I got an Aloo Gobi to go and it was delicious! Seriously this food is SOO FREAKIN AMAZING!!!!!!! I am a huge Indian food snob and this takes the bucket. Even the chai tea is out of this world. The Lamb kabob is to die for. Come by and get a meal, you know its too windy outside for your camper anyways. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Genuinely one of the best Indian's I've had in a long time. Ordered 2x curries (butter chicken & rogan josh) over the phone with garlic naan bread and they were ready to pick up in 15 mins. One of the best Indian meals I’ve had in a long while. We ordered 2 curries and both were delicious. We ordered for takeaway. They were easily able to accommodate gluten & dairy free! We ordered Mix platter, chicken masala, veg biryani, chicken biryani, chicken Bhuna, Paneer Kulcha, tandoori roti, butter naan… The meat is tough, samosas and pakora are both clearly not fresh and clearly used frozen food.
