The jalapeño cornbread was the best cornbread we have ever had - melts in your mouth with a little kick. Peach tea was delicious! Fried green tomatoe BLT was fantastic. All our food was amazing. Service was good. Only complaint was the bathroom was a mess with paper towels all over the floor. We were excited to check out this cafe and on arrival we were told a 45 min wait. While waiting we saw another couple get sat at an outside table. So I asked the hostess if we could get an outside table. She said there's some and asked if we wanted an outside table. And I said, if we can get sat now then yes. And she said, well "it's only for a select few, so no. It'll still take the 45 min". Wow 😳 I'm guessing they don't need our patronage. See ya later red rooster cafe, we won't be back to try again. I really enjoyed my fried combo flounder and shrimp with homemade chips and slaw. My Dad loved his regular order of fried oysters, and Mom says their oyster stew is one of the best she's had. My brother enjoyed his burger with a fried egg, hash browns casserole, and bagel. Service was good, fairly busy for lunch, so understandable that it took a while for our order to come out. Popped in for what we were hoping was a semi quick lunch. Instead we waited and waited and waited. Empty tables not being filled and just waiting to be sat. Once we got to the table we waited and waited again for food. Looked around and hardly anyone in there. So why the long wait?! Drinks came and both glasses had grits stuck on them. So nasty! My husband got a burger which was good. I got the shrimp and grits. The grits were cold sadly, but the gravy and shrimp were hot. They were very good otherwise. Now my big dilemma. I am disabled. I went to use the restroom… While with my condition I am not always wheelchair bound, I do often use one and prefer the handicap stall as well because of assist bars. Walk in there and there’s NO DOOR at all on the handicap stall. What the heck?! This is unacceptable and should have been remedied immediately. Checked another stall and while there was a door, you can’t lock it because the lock doesn’t line up. Really no excuse for the lack of a door. Even making one out of cardboard until fixed is better than nothing. No one wants to be on show like that.
