This restaurant is superbly situated with a direct ocean view from the terrace. Regrettably, a severe storm struck while we were staying there, preventing us from enjoying the view for an extended period. While the menu is uncomplicated, it offers something for everyone. I sampled the scabbardfish in cider, which had an oddly sour taste for my liking, but my boyfriend's choice of pork was exceptional, boasting a tender texture reminiscent of beef cheek. Additionally, the pumpkin "cappuccino" with lime and coconut and the cucumber soup with apple were delightful. The staff was also quite friendly. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Place is beautiful if you seat outside, inside not special. Food is good but not wow my serving of fish was very small I think 100gr of fish, that is to small. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The most friendly staff I have ever met! The hostess makes you feel so welcome to her restaurant. The cuisine is pure and simple. And as a bonus, you have the most wonderful view from the terrace. Simply a hidden gem of a restaurant, delightful in its wine selection, delicately prepared delicious meals and deserts, it was a personal highlight during our stay. Though it is very much tucked away (no sign other than a small side gate off the road to the right of the building), the restaurant is charmful and situated southward facing. The pork chop and the orange duck were very tasteful. The staff are very endearing and attentive to food intolerances, making Restaurante Bago a wonderful and relaxing place to sit back, watch the sunset, and enjoy great and authentic Madeiran food. We had the most amazing dinner experience at Bargo. The staff was amazing, very attentive and friendly. The view from the terrace is amazing, very relaxing. The view of the sunset and the changing colours of the sky is great too. And, last but nur least, the food was very tasty as well. Very reasonable prices, everything is fresh, many options for vegetarians. Can‘t recommend enough! Make a reservation before coming. Oh, and we can also recommend the Madeira Mini Wine Tasting!
