A very good restaurant for fish and price for the money is super. Would deserve 5 starts if kitchen was able to deliver rapidly. Be ready to wait up to an hour for your fist dish.. so order bread and enjoy : it is a nice place and waiters are nice also. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

We spotted Casa da Marè on a walk into Alvor, the menu and pricing made us decide to return for dinner on our last night in Alvor. The food and service were excellent and really good value for money, we would happily eat here again on a return visit. Service isn't the quickest and it's not a recent thing as its been like this on previous visits over the years. However the food is excellent and the quality of fish 🐟 is very good. The mackerel was really good but the peri-peri chicken was on the bone and not the best. Service was very slow, staff just didn’t seem to have any urgency and the food took a while to be cooked. Great view across the harbour though and nice to find somewhere a bit more authentic. Ideal location overlooking the fishing port. The fish is fresh - watch how the fisherman brought it to the restaurant. Portions are huge. Sardines - normally 4 - here are 6. The portion of Black scabbardfish (fish of the day, don't forget to ask about it, it's not on the menu) I could barely eat it. The service is good, the prices are like the others, but the portions are bigger, as I already noted. The fish is well cooked, boiled potatoes and salad is included in the portion. We had a long lunch here yesterday with excellent service and great food. We knew our fish was fresh because we saw it being collected from a local fishermen. Served with potatoes and fresh vegetables. Fish served at the table and filleted in front of us. Very good local wine and the desserts were good too. We had several delicious dinners here during our stay in Alvor. Excellent value. Very tasty. We tried many of the fish dishes and all were great. Grill was exactly right. Food was delicious, bursting with flavour. Friendly and funny staff. Food seemed to be marinated over night as it was so flavorful. They brought the choices of fish on a plate that you would be eating and you can pick which you wanted.
