This gem is worth the pleasant walk along the beach. El Viejo is a family owned and operated restaurant in the ruins of the family hotel that has a very storied history. The food is delicious and well plated. Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner!!! Update: Just returned from breakfast, the Tacos Dorados were amazing. Absolutely wonderful experience! The four of us ate here two nights in a row. The staff are amazing - cheerful, kind, efficient. The mojitos are in the best ever category. Great salads and appetizers, melt in your mouth mahi mahi (option 2 particularly delicious), shrimp and peppered tuna exceptional. And the sunsets over the water are not to be missed. Had dinner here early in November and every course was exceptional. Each dish was colorful and delicious - we didn't expect this degree of quality - and the surroundings are open, well lighted and a great view of Zihuat in the distance. For two of us they offered a three course meal plus dessert and with a bottle of wine the cost was just a little over $100. Come dine here! Spend an evening, you'll be delighted! And ignore all the bad advice about the road to here (it should be modernized this December we were told). There is plenty of room to turn around and your car won't care that it is unpaved currently.
