Fantastic little restaurant. The chef comes to talk to you about the menu and all the fresh fish they have that day. Everything is freshly cooked, you get as much veg and potatoes as you need and is honestly one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. Wonderful service and wonderful food🥰 Recommended completely! The experience was very poor. We booked in advance. We were seated in the middle of some quite cramped tables for 2. It was impossible to have any sort of private conversation especially when the couples on either side were silent. But then again it's a very small room and when I booked I knew that so that was my fault. Here is the worst part. No menus. No offer of a drink. It got to 820pm and we'd been there for 20 mins. My wife and I agreed that we'd just walk. Something I can not recall us doing ever before. About 15 minutes in the owner came over and explained in a somewhat unwelcoming manner something about the fish. Still no offer of a drink. I know this place gets good reviews for the food. If you are prepared to accept the risk that the service might be terrible then good luck to you. They only appeared to have 1 person in the kitchen and 1 front of house. That's not a good ratio for the number of potential covers. Personally I prefer good service and good food and one should not be at the expense of the other. I just don't understand the reviews that talk about the owner being a great entertainer and character. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner

We know this restaurant since our first visit to Madeira in 2015. And always satisfied with the freshness and quality of food prepared by the irreplaceable chef Filippe. You can tell the chef is very passionate and cares about his food and service. We were greeted immediately by him once we were sat down. Me and my husband had the madiera skewers they were so good ! This place has to be one of my favorites stops in madeira by far Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Small family restaurant with fabulous food. I had fillet of mutton and he had fillet mignon, we shared various vegetables. Great quality food, fabulous flavours, medium sized portions. Both had dark chocolate mousse for dessert - wowee. Beer was bottled Super-Bok (not keen). Red wine was on the pricey side, house bottle was €30 (we're more comfortable with €23/25). A small cosy restaurant of 11 tables. The food gets 5 out of 5. The best meal we had the whole week. But be cautioned. This is a small restaurant run by owner and wife. Felt like Fawlty Towers with Basil, Manuel and the chef rolled into one. The food takes a while to arrive but it was fantastic. Order drinks, have a chat and wait for the food. It is worth it. Highly recommended if you not in a rush. Black scabbard fish with banana. Outstanding

We ordered peppered steak which was cooked lovely. We had One small tray of French fries,That was only enough for one person. There were 2 of us. They were just oven chips. Not the best either. Had a glass of wine not measured just poured randomly, not much either.the second glass the lady poured had more in 😀. Tiny portion of vegetables half a cherry tomato each with the steak. Total €85 euros. Never worth it. Sorry. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1

We always pay a couple of visits to to this restaurant each time we go to Madeira. Pity Deliveroo don’t cover that area!!!!!! Excellent food - never fails to deliver. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

What a disappointment, it all looked so good to start with. If you would like an entertaining evening, where you almost get told what to order, then this is the place for you. If you like to be treated specially then walk on by. The owner / chef is a character and a half. When my wife and I visited in the summer of 2022, we booked a table, arrived on time for dinner, but we were not able to choose a couple of tables, as they were "reserved", we were in there for over 1.5 hours and nobody else took them. I fancied fish, so I was shown a selection of supposedly the days fresh fish, I selected one that I liked the size of, and was served with a distinctly smaller version. The chef is quite an intimidating personality, and you almost feel as though you are being told off, he is very stern, laughably so, but you are paying for this, and for what you are served, it's overpriced, you can definitely eat better and for less elsewhere on the island, which is a shame, as it looked so good.
