we've been to madeira many times but for some reason always avoided this place. how wrong were we! we had a lovely meal, lots of fresh veg (a rarity here!) and enjoyed everything. the welcome, ambience, food, and the price was very good for what we had. another lovely thing was lots of different tables started chatting to each other - very sociable. Let's make this quick: if you're old and would like to have an ok menu for dinner that only costs 20 euros, there is nothing wrong with this place. If you're looking for something special, authentic or exciting, stay away however. The beef skewer was the best thing here. It was actually great. However, this isn't included in the menu (of course). Everything else was super boring, more like some mall franchise diner than an actual restaurant. The very old crowd (70+) here however apparently liked what they got and many tables reserved again for the next evening before they left. Maybe I'll come back in 30 years. A great place for dinner. Try to reserve a table as it is so popular. The service is first class. The food well presented. Definitely worth the wait. And.. Delightful staff and great food, never had a bad meal here. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this small and intimate restaurant. Be careful when you receive your meal as it is always piping hot. My wife and I had a terrific experience here. She enjoyed a gluten free meal and a beer, I have no allergies and demolished a shepherds pie. The veggie plate was tremendous and the spinach has a touch of nutmeg. Will return again to enjoy another meal. Amazing! Nothing to fault, our waitress was so kind, and the food is to die for!! I asked for sides alone side my meal (the chips and salad) and they came with no hesitation! I can’t express how amazing the food was! Definitely recommend
