Came through on a Friday night around 11p. As others have mentioned, very difficult to communicate with employees especially if there is wind or a train nearby.
My biggest complaint however is the condition of the diesel pumps. Pump 13 was coming out as a trickle. 5+ minutes for 4-5 gallons. We had the attendant switch us over to pump 11 (high speed) which worked much better.
The ground around all of the diesel pumps appeared to be soaked with diesel. I Can't say if this is normal or a spill occurred earlier in the day. Next time I'll probably choose to pay the extra .10 /gal at another station
The employees here are always so nice. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is due to how difficult it is to talk to the employee at night. There isn't a speaker or anything. Just the drawer and even then it's difficult to communicate. Please fix this.
We've been coming here for years and I keep asking my fellow jeepers why!!? The bathrooms are barely clean and the gas pumps take forever... If they aren't broken all together. Only reason given was so they can get gas while getting lunch at the subway. 🤦🏼♀️ No more! Shell you need to take care of that station!
I’ve been coming here a few days a week for years. It is probably one of the most poorly run Shell franchises I’ve come across. Pumps are consistently out of order or do not accept cards for weeks at a time. Some pumps are faulty and do not have the handle lock so you have to hold it the entire time filling up. The screens have graffiti scratches all over and are near impossible to read, especially at certain sun angles. Homeless people love hanging out here as well, but that’s really a Mojave thing. The bathrooms are disgusting and typically out of order as well. Today I walked in and both urinals had plastic bags over them.
Since I like Shell gasoline, I attempted to help by calling their corporate offices a couple times over the past year to complain and get this Mojave station to do better. The Shell corporation treats them as independent franchises but can contact the owners based on complaints. Doesn’t seem to have helped at all, this Mojave Shell hasn’t changed or fixed a thing based on these complaints.
I really want this Mojave Shell station to be less terrible since I think Shell has high quality gas, but everything other than gas at this Shell franchise sucks.
So many other higher quality options in Mojave to choose from, I’ll be going to the Chevron down the road. It’s much cleaner, more working pumps, and they have clean window cleaning solution and squeegees.
Update 1:
There’s some type of software problem the last couple weeks with the pumps, which causes very long pauses of 25-30 seconds between each button press. There are several menus to get through(e.g., “Enter Rewards Number”, “Car Wash”, etc). The end result is you stand outside in one of the windiest and dustiest places in the country for about 5 minutes before you can even begin to start pumping gas.
Good, clean place. Usually open 24 hrs. but because of trouble they sometimes close down for a couple hrs late night/early morning. Friendly staff, clean restrooms. Subway opens in the morning & closes at night, not sure on hrs. Sorry.
They have subway onsite so you can refill yourself while refilling gas. Convenience store is decent size and well stocked. Cappuccino was full of sugar and kind of nasty level. Bathroom was actually dirty as others reviewed and out of soap. Reminded one of the emp about it and he said let me check if we have any left. Waiting for few min but no one came back to refill soap so left. People at subway counter were helpful and friendly.
It started off with the crackheads from the apartmments across the street running over to panhandle - during daytime hours. The bathroom inside of the Shell station had the one and only stall closed and taped off. One of the 2 urinals was also taped off. Toilet water on the floor made the bathroom smell something awful. Gross!
