Food is decent, which is the only reason why I'm giving this 3 stars. The shrimp was tasty. The grits and tots are good. The burger was seasoned well but way overcooked, so it was dry. The brioche bun was great and a nice change. Service was horrendous though, by far the worst we had after eating many local restaurants over the last 3 days while visiting. After leaving, we're still not sure what role the teenage girls up front had in serving customers. They were great at rolling silverware and refilling condiments. But they didn't stop by the table to offer refills or ask if we needed anything. We had to track one of them down to ask after sitting for 5 mins waiting for someone to walk by. We sat for 5 mins before anyone even asked what we wanted to drink, and that was after one of them sat us in a booth. I asked a question after ordering and they weren't sure of the answer but never bothered to ask the cook, so I guess they felt it wasn't important enough to warrant the effort. It was an utterly frustrating dining experience. The young ladies were friendly, they just weren't attentive. (Updated to note: we didn't have any particular server. Three different ones stopped at our table at some point. I doubt all 3 were having a first day experience. I get one maybe learning the first day, but all 3? I couldn't tell you who our actual waitress was.) The young men working the grill were working hard. Kudos to them for getting food out quickly and properly. They had to keep reminding the teen girls that there was food waiting to be taken to tables. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 1

I love this place! We came here for breakfast after traffic court (boo). It was my birthday too. This place is special. Its not super big or flashy, but the staff and owner are amazing. We sat at the counter where you have a great view of the cooking action. I love to cook. And love to watch cooking, if it’s good cooking. And this was the best I’ve watched from a counter anywhere. You can tell everything is being prepared with care and properly. I don’t usually order omelets because they’re not normally made well. After watching him make one, I ordered an omelette. Fresh spinach and veg lightly cooked and folded (rolled) in egg. It was beautiful! And tasted great! Hubby enjoyed beautiful pancakes. Had a great chat with the guy cooking, who is the owner, Shep (his nickname). Wonderful guy. Absolutely love this place and will go out of our way to return. Would love to try other things on the menu or new ideas from Shep. This guy cooks with love. Watching him I said to my husband “I’d eat anything he cooked”. Highly recommended :) Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Home Fries
A no frills but affordable diner with great sandwiches and sides, served by a friendly and courteous staff. I loved how the waitress checked back with us to refill our drinks, drop off extra napkins and see if we needed anthing else.I always look forward eating at Shep's!😋

Shep's is an awesome old school diner in the heart of Washington. Four of us ate here on Sunday morning 11/5/23 around 8:30 am. The staff was extremely friendly and we were seated immediately. We had coffee in hand within three minutes and orders taken within five. The food selection was great with everything from your classic two egg breakfast with several choices of meats to chicken and waffles or eggs benedict. I just wish we had a place like this near where I live. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Jason and his team catered our wedding in September. We had roughly 150 people. An absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. He was very easy to talk with and answered all my questions. The food was absolutely amazing and we still have people talking about it. The setup was also very beautiful. I would highly recommend Shep's Grill for any future catering! Shep and his staff are so friendly the minute you walk into the door. My husband and I ate twice at the restaurant while on vacation and we were not disappointed with the food. I do highly recommend the Eggs Benedict Florentine. The staff works hard to keep the restaurant clean and with a young staff it's very impressive. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

The cook is loud, hollers at the staff of teens often. I think the staff just needs a little training. The place lacks personality or ambiance, but it has potential. They do open early in the morning and serve a good meal at a fair price. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Stopped in with my wife for breakfast on the weekend and while they were busy, the staff was absolutely making it look easy, with our food and drinks being brought out quickly. All of the staff were super friendly as well. My only issue with the food was with the brisket in my omelette. It was cooked in a manner that made it resemble a roast more than brisket (cooked too fast and/or at a higher heat) and the part it was cut from had to be the fat cap as there were just chunks of pure fat. A properly trimmed brisket would have fat (or moist) areas primarily on the point near the fat cap but this is trimmed away when serving, leaving only small veins of fat. For shredded brisket as should be used in an omelette, the meat should come from the flat and be more lean as a result. The point is usually reserved for sliced brisket. I think it is just a case of the person cooking or serving the brisket not understanding how to work that cut of meat and treating more like a tri tip or rump roast. Hopefully, it was a one off. I plan to try it again in a few trips and see. The atmosphere is that of the main street American diner. The sort of place you expect the farmers, shopkeepers, and Sheriff to all stop in and grab eggs, bacon, and coffee before they start the day. There is art on the wall for sale that adds a local flavor as well. All in all, it is a nice place to stop in for a bite with some friendly service and all served at a great price.
