I’ll start with the place. Beautiful and very big. When I went to the toilets, I passed by a dead cockroach on the floor and made the staff aware. Wasn’t the best experience, but ok. The food - we ordered a lot of dishes. The only good ones were the short rib brisket tortilla and the tomahawk. Everything else was ok. Not bad. But not to die for. The Wellington burger is what I was looking forward to the most. But unfortunately, the patty was overcooked from the inside, it was still a good burger. The Sanchez burger was better as the patty was a perfect medium. The meat on top the guacamole was badly burnt. The desserts were ok and nothing more. Could have avoided them all (and we ordered 6). If you’re there, make sure not to miss the short rib brisket it was excellent. Wine selection was good and their Mexican wine is great. Staff were really really nice! The best meal we had in Cancun, and we loved the restaurant itself! The atmosphere was very cool but not too loud. The food was a good value for the price and prepared perfectly. My partner loved his steak, but I had a salad and was equally impressed. We ordered dessert and loved that too. Based on this experience I'd try anything on the menu. I've visited this Sonora Grill location twice. I made 1 visit during both of my trips to Cancun over the past 2 years. I wish I could give this place a higher rating, but I was immensely disappointed by my most recent visit, to say the least. This place is a hit-or-miss type of situation depending on the day and/or your server. My first visit a year ago was so spectacular that I told our server I would be back next year. However, this time around, my experience was quite different from the last. The food was good overall except for 1 extremely salty entrée (Rib Eye Barbacoa). The service this time was absolutely garbage even though there were 2 managers around. I asked the server about a fried shrimp appetizer to which he told me they had. It turned out to be a fried octopus appetizer when it came to our table. They were very pressed about us not ordering something to drink. They've asked a total of 5 times. We saw one of the managers talking and pointing at us, which was not very nice to see. Our server was nowhere to be found after a certain point in time. We had to hunt down one of the managers to get the bill. While paying for our meal, we were told "We recommend you tip 20%". Funny enough, all of that wasn't what made me upset. What actually made me upset was the ice cream. I was offered ice cream after my meal during my last visit and during this visit, the table next to us got ice cream after their meal. We were offered nothing after paying and were left sitting there awkwardly. We ended up leaving without asking about it because the server was once again nowhere to be found! The difference in experience was quite real. I definitely left feeling a bit discriminated against. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Sonora Grill on any of my future Cancun visits. This is a great place to relax after a day spent shopping in la isla mall or as a starting point before you head out to the night clubs, I can say this as I have done both!I first went alone after shopping and I loved it so I went back with my friend as I was treating her to a dinner for her birthday. On the second time we were served by Alan and Mario, but all of the staff are very friendly accommodating and will do everything they can to ensure you have a great experience. Everything about the place is great, food, drinks, interior and even the music they play is fitting for the whole experience. LOVED this place during my visit to Cancun. Forgot our servers names but everyone including the manager was so friendly and attentive. Food was great according to everyone at the table, and it was a birthday celebration so we were able to get an awesome dessert. Seen this restaurant, suggested, and highly recommended, during my stay in Cancun I decided to check this place out. The atmosphere is so nice relaxing and very upbeat music. This is a nice restaurant to bring a date or if you’re just in the mood for a lovely outing. The service here was divine. If there is anything wrong, they immediately fix it the servers do everything for you just as they pour the cheese on top of the cauliflower and also injected the burger and sliced it for us. It was a very good fine dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious. The burger that was inside of the bread that was injected with the cheese almost tasted like a fancy Krystals burger. Still, it was enjoyable, and the fries were hot and crispy. The beef bone marrow tacos had to be my absolute favorite thing. This was quite an experience and if you’re visiting the Cancun area check this place out. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Delicious food in a high end nightclub atmosphere. We split an order of grilled octopus, tongue stew, Aztec soup and Caesar salad. The grilled octopus is tender and slightly spicy, served with super rich risotto. The tongue is stewed inside a banana leaf and is accompanied by fresh made corn tortillas. The Aztec soup is a creamy tomato base, topped with tortilla strips, avocado, cheese and guajillo chilis. The proportion of tortilla strips vs. soup was leaning heavily to the tortilla side, which made the soup much heavier than it should've been as an appetizer. Caesar salad was disappointing, too salty with the mountain of cheese and anchovies. Overall, a wonderful meal. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The steaks here are amazing! The high mixology cocktails are also good fun and also tasty. The service was good, but I did feel a little rushed. They kept asking: Do you want your next drink? do you want dessert? do you want your bill? We would have preferred a little more time to relax and not feel pressured to continue to the next course.
