Affordable Japanese food near our area. Serving time is fast and the place is neat, clean and organized. Serving size is also good and food quality is okay. Would love to give 5 but I got served with an onion peel/skin on my ramen. But the overall experience is okay, will be eating again on this place.
This is the best japanese restaurant we’ve been visiting since 2018! I swear I can’t remember how times we’ve been here, customer service is really good! Food here is truly authentic japanese food type, with a great fine dining ambiance and price is reasonable!! This is a MUST TRY JAPANESE RESTAURANT in town! 💕
I was so surprised that there is a Japanese Restaurant near us. This place offers cheap but quality food. I totally recommend you to order first seafood ramen. Their takoyaki also tastes good. You may also order what they call “chahan set” for only P200. This includes ramen, fried rice and gyoza. Super worth it. The site is also nice as we can view a garden and mountain. ♥
We’ve been to Tamago a few times in the past and the food and service were reasonable. Today we went with another couple for lunch. The service was terrible. It took more than 90 minutes to get our orders - there was only one other couple in the restaurant. We found out after asking why the orders were taking so long that they didn’t have enough rice (they had to get some somewhere nearby). What restaurant serves rice as a main item runs out of rice?
After getting our orders (bento boxes) the rice was found to be half-cooked (hard). The tempura dipping sauce did not arrive with our orders. In fact we had ask repeatedly for it. We also didn’t receive the included miso soup nor the non-alcoholic drinks but didn’t bring it up as the server seemed incapable of getting anything done in a reasonable period of time.
No compensation or freebie was offered during our long wait.
We ordered take-out tuna sushi as well. When we brought it home the tuna was tasteless and tough and wasn’t worth eating.
Our disappointing visit to Tamago doesn’t fall just on the shoulders of the server but also on the cook, and perhaps, most importantly, the restaurant’s management. Poor, or non-existent training of staff is often the root cause of disappointing service and I think this was a good example of management being asleep at the wheel.
Would we come again? No. Would we recommend this restaurant to our friends? No. Thankfully, there are other Japanese restaurants in the Lipa area, such as Ichirosan, where we can bring our business.
It’s too bad we had such a bad experience at Tamago, as we liked our previous visits.
