Food was nice but not really value for money in my opinion. Bought 3x battered fish, 1 scoop of chips with all sauces, Hawaiian burger and a 1.5ltr fizzy $42 worth. Service was great. A small and clean fish n chip shop. Fish was fresh, batter was kind of smooth but crunchy and totally drenched in oil. Very greasy. Chips cooked beautifully and burger was good. The portions are so disappointing. Overpriced with tiny portions. $5.20 for a finger width piece of fish.. $5.00 for what is no more than a cup of chips.. unless you want to break the bank and still be hungry find another chipper!

After our usual fish & chip shop changed management and were not satisfied with the quality of their food, we were looking for another provider. Te Hapara fish shop appears to be that shop. We ordered Terakihi, battered sausages with a scoop of chips, and found it to perfection. The fish was a half fillet of fish well cooked and not greasy with the sausage the best we have tasted. The cut of the chip was smaller than usual and the pieces of fish were slim also . But everything was very well seasoned and cooked until golden and crunchy. Prices were maybe a little higher than some places but fine, there are a few “ special packs” to choose from as well. We would go again .

Absolutely excellent fish and chips. Staff were friendly when I walked in and my food was cooked fresh. Batter was the perfect thickness and crunchy. Best I've had in a long time. Will definitely be coming again when I'm in Gisborne.

Thanks for a beautiful meal ..was hungry which made the meal more enjoyable..got home put a couple of eggs on toast the burger buns, lettuce ,beetroot,fried onions tomatoes, mayo and the battered Fish..OMG....sorry forgot to take a pic (couldn't hold back) and chips with batt sausages..THFS recommend Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–40 Food: 4 Service: 4 Recommended dishes Sausage

have been coming here for a while now and used to be top food, over the past couple of months the food has gone down the food you cant taste because when you open up pack its all soggy and floating in oil. not nice, so after 3 bad feeds, im not going back, used to be great, What happened???😥 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Our go to fish and chip shop in Gisborne. Fresh fish, yummy oysters with super light batter and crispy chips that aren't greasy. Highly recommend YUM!
