First visit, I am impressed. The person taking my order was friendly. The food came out hot, fresh, and delicious. The manager checked on the guest and made sure to give a balloon to a little one before they left. Really made for a wholesome moment. Absolutely love this place. We have been back 3 Fridays in a row now. Crispy chicken sandwich is my go to. The chicken they use is juicy and delicious. Plus it's a large sized portion as well. Fries are really good and the gentleman who takes care of us is super friendly. Fast service too! We love That Burger Joint! Dropped in to The Burger Joint for a late lunch on Friday. I was pleasantly greeted with a smile by the young lady at the counter. I ordered a double of the Chipotle Jack burger with fries and a drink. I must have waited maybe 5-6mins and my food was served hot at my table. The burger was absolutely delicious and loaded with flavor. The fries were both a bit soggy and crunchy at the same time. At first I had an issue with the sogginess of the fries but I found myself devouring them. During my meal, the manager took the time to come to my table to ask how I liked the burger and we conversed a bit. I really enjoyed my meal and the pleasant addition of how friendly everyone was made this visit even more enjoyable. The atmosphere of the burger side of the building seems dark and drab while the Oberweist Ice Cream side is bright white. When you're hungry don't go for the atmosphere, go for the tasty burgers! Review Date: June 11th, 2018 That Burger Joint is… disjointed? Recently, Oberweis Dairy (an ice cream store, a la Cold Stone Creamery) has expanded to offer a restaurant attached to their store. While driving through Bloomington, the gimmicky name instantly caught my eye. You would think if you visit a restaurant with burger in it’s name, you would order a burger. But I didn’t. I ordered ‘That Spicy Chicken’. My friend ordered ‘That Burger’. We sat down and were anxious to dig in to the food. The sandwiches were massive and heavy. Almost too big to eat. But where it was big in size, it lacked in flavor. I got jalapenos on my chicken and it definitely added a kick, but the chicken itself tasted… off. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t give me anything to write home about. Just this blog post. I tried my friend’s burger and she tried my sandwich. Her burger was full of flavor due to the toppings and grease, but the actual meat had no more flavor than a $4 pound of unseasoned beef that you’d get at the local grocer. She agreed that the food was mediocre overall. The lay out of the inside reminds me of a hybrid between Steak N Shake and Five Guys Burger & Fries. You walk up to the counter, place your order and you either take it to go or they can bring it out to your table. It’s that cross between fast food and restaurant. The decor was sparse and lacking. There is an attempt to give it a rustic look, but the large swathes of black leave much to be desired. The customer service was good while ordering, but once we were sitting down, the staff was complaining among themselves about how short staffed they were. I hate to score That Burger Joint so low, but I can’t in good conscious give it a glowing review. It’s best to avoid it, even if you are there getting ice cream. There are way better places in Bloomington/Normal to get food.

Bit into my spicy chicken sandwich and thought it tasted funky but figured it was just the coleslaw and kept eating. Next bite I pulled out a long piece of plastic from my mouth, gross! There was a long wait for our food but we received a free ice cream for the inconvenience. The food was really good, the staff was pleasant but not necessarily friendly or exuding a desire to be there. The whole side of the restaurant for that burger joint was dark, dreary, and very cold. GREAT BURGER! That Steakhouse Burger is fantastic with the blue cheese oozing all over the mushrooms & burger! That Patty Melt was equally tasty! The fries were crispy on the outside... service was very friendly and helpful. We’ll be back. And it’s connected to Oberweis ice cream shop!

Food is great but the male worker with short brown hair & few acne bumps on his face, that worked Friday 9-1-2023 @ 9:25pm… Very unprofessional & rude! As I’m sitting waiting for my order, I hear him talking about me & my daughter so I turn to look & his 2 friends (girls he was talking to about us), turn & look at us at same time & laugh & turn back to him & say “And she’s looking too!”. VERY rude to stand with other customers & talk Negatively about another pair of customers, when they’ve done Nothing & you don’t even know them! Like I said LOVE their food, but, they could train some of their workers to Not speak negatively about paying customers who’ve done Nothing hut purchase their food!!
