This place is fantastic! The food is consistent, service is impeccable and the drinks are spot on. I have been here at least 5 times in the past few months. Our server, Mariyah, was very personable and attentive. Definitely one of the best restaurants in town. I will be sure to return soon! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

What a great Italian option here in Waltham. My husband and I went for date night and started off with an almost immediate acknowledgment for some water. Then greeted by our excellent very personable, proffessional yet very down to earth, friendly server, Mariah. For an appetizer we started with the charcuterie board. Then I got the skirt steak and frites. Husband got the pork chop. I've had some pretty good cuts of steak before, but I have to say this little gem made my top 5 best steak list. I ordered it rare and you could have cut it with a butter knife. The flavor was like a juice grenade went off in My mouth. We finished with the Pistachio creme Brule. WOW, the best I've ever had. Our server, Mariah, thank you for making our date night an unforgettable evening. You were very attentive and easy and fun to talk to while holding the proffessional stature that one must keep while working in a finer dinning establishment such as The Federal. We will be certain to ask to sit in your section next time we make a reservation. Thank you! Over all it was an amazing exerience and highly recommend The Federal ! Pricy. But definitely great service and food. Best clam chowder we had in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. I tried the soup everywhere we went and this was this best. The filet mignon was tender and seasoned well (my mom ordered it with the demi glace). The Rockefeller oysters I was dissappointed because the oysters were so tiny, the size of a clam. The lemon helped bring the acidic flavor needed. However, they were tasty overall. The lobster special was spicy, I would say a little too spicy. The taste of the lobster was masked by the seasoning and slightly overcooked. The bread was adequate. However, I think fresh bread or warmed bread would add to the meal. The server was very helpful and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Deserts were very tasty. The kids loved the gelato, creme brulee and tasting the honey cake. The food itself is delicious, and the server was quite friendly. The atmosphere itself is beautiful, but what is bringing down the rating on this restaurant is the time management. It took us almost an hour and a half to get our food. That is a little excessive. We will come again and hope to give a five star experience next time around! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

The average restaurant, doesn’t have a soul. Just a good quality food, little bit pricey. The server was really nice, but the hostess and especially manager was weird. The attitude should be improved Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+

An amazing steak house in the Waltham area. The food was all cooked to perfection and the affogato was an amazing desert. It’s quite pricey however, and I found that my beef Wellington was too salty. Still recommend!!

We went here for our anniversary and were delighted. We usually go into the city for a good steak but we now know we can achieve this locally. The Federal is a great steakhouse conveniently located in Waltham shopping strip next to Market Basket. Parking is easy unlike the city. The restaurant is well maintained and upscale. Great bar and patio area, which is really great for summer evenings. The service was great. The food was terrific. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended for any occasion.

Just celebrated our anniversary and decided on The Federal for the occasion. I had such a great experience I felt compelled to write a review. Our server (Amanda) was FANTASTIC. My wife and I have spent much of our career in the service industry, so we noticed her attention to detail and service was second to none. And it wasn't just Amanda, but the entire staff; it was clear everyone was on their "A game", filling in and helping out where needed. We were so impressed. The food not only rivaled restaurants that are much more expensive, the atmosphere and staff very so warm and inviting. No exaggeration, this was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a while. I'll definitely be coming back and telling my friends about my visit, but most importantly asking that Amanda is our server. She's in a league above all others. Thank you for the great service!
