Mystic River Bascule Bridge is what you should see after having a meal at Ancient Mariner. Many guests come to order nicely cooked oysters, halibut and clam chowder. Saw positive reviews for their seafood and decided to come here with my boyfriend for a date. Unfortunately me and my boyfriend did not have the same positive experience with the food like others in positive reviews. My boyfriend said his lobster tasted microwaved and didn’t taste fresh. The French fries were nothing to rave at.. not very crispy and not much taste just light salt. The clam chowder was too salty.. mostly just tasted like salt not much of any other flavor. I always love to get clam strips at seafood restaurants and the clam strips I recieved seemed to be all batter. Very thickly battered to the point all you taste is just flour batter and it’s to thick and dense it’s hard to chew through and swallow. The restaurant was very clean and nice and our waiter was very nic but unfortunately the food wasn’t good and definitely not worth the price. We went in because there was a sign outside advertising happy hour. When we sat at a bar table we were informed that there was no happy hour due to the holiday weekend (president's day, is that even a real holiday??). When we brought it to their attention they would not honor the happy hour and they brought the sign inside. Food and service are over the roof! Very cute and cozy place on the main tourist street. It was super chill and quiet because we visited it in winter. I had Clam Chowder and Fish&Chips. Barely finished it, I was full very fast. Food: The hot Lobster Roll was a 3.5 out of 5, compared to others I've had. Lobster meat was slightly overdone and the dill was missing, but the bread was perfectly buttered and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Also, Brussels sprouts were delicious. The clam chowder was 4 out of 5. I would definitely eat all of this again. 4 out of 5. Service: Attentive, regularly circled back to our table, and cordial. I felt comfortable here though not above and beyond. 3.5 out of 5. Atmosphere: Clean and simple decor, comfortable and casual, and a wonderful location.
