This isn't a hotel it's a restaurant, but please allow me to say...... Kandie was our waiter and she was awesome, positive attitude, gave us the new menu since it was also kind of hard to make a decision on what to get, because everything looked sooo freaking good !!!!!!!!!! We left out smiling and feeling good and satisfied. Will love to come here again.

Village Inn We stopped for a late breakfast. The three egg omelette and the Belgian waffle were tasty and sizable portions. The food was good but the waitress was better. She was perfect. We appreciated the professionalism she exhibited. The register person automatically gave us the senior ( we’re obvious) discount without us asking. Great food and a good staff. Hard to do any better! Food was very good, fast service and wife ask if I wanted a pie to take home for my birthday. Waitress said he gets a free piece for a birthday. I said great and I'll buy one for my wife. But when she brought them out she said no extra charge. She received a good tip. Where do i begin? First time there. We sat for 10 min without any service. Another waitress finally asked us if our waitress came out to take our order. Finally she came out we places our order. A turkey club sandwich with soup and i had pancakes and bacon. It took 40 min to get our food.. mind you, there there were only two tables with customers and we are one of the two. Waitress only comment to us is I'm having (personal) issues with the cook. Mind you this place took 40 min to make pancakes and a sandwich? The other table already had their food!!! We got our food and bill at the same time. Never saw our waitress again and wouldn't you know the bill was wrong. She charges us an extra meal!! I had to have someone else get a new bill and then i had to go ask for a container since we never seen our waitress again. We did see her in the kitchen chatting with other workers. The restaurant was about the same temperature as outdoors. Freezing cold and the entire experience sucked. The food was ok. Never would i want anyone to go through what we went through on a Saturday at 1:30pm. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to eat. The Des Moines area has numerous places that sell homemade and factory manufactured pies. Yet after trying a plethora of many, none come close to the variety, freshness, availability and customer friendly price as Village Inn. Their pies are full of all the richness of mom’s kitchen. Try any flavor for yourself— remember every Wednesday is free slice pie day with a purchase of an entree! Nice place, friendly people however they advertise Free Pie Wed's, or Free Kid's Meals Monday's/Tuesday's. This is great, however they add these free items to your bill, and unless you point it out during checkout that they are free items, you'll be charged. When pointing this out to the cashier, they will just laugh and say they made a mistake. I understand mistakes, however looking through other google reviews, this happens often, as the system is designed to give error to the business and not the customer. Have eaten here multiple times and have always been treated well with good service. However my last experience has me venturing out to other breakfast type locations. I do recommended eating here, just eagle eye your receipt when leaving, and leave a cash tip for the waiter as i'm sure they have no say in the billing process. Everyone in my party had a wonderful experience with the staff, food, and even the other patrons nearby. I was the only one whose food wasn't great but it wasn't the staff's fault as much as outdated ways of cooking corn beef hash, very much canned hash which is unfortunate as I was excited since no one really offers it anymore. I ordered a Holiday French Silk Pie. Which looks like a wreath with chocolate curls and sprinkles. I was handed a regular pie and a container of red and green sprinkles. 🤯😠 I will not waste my time or money again. I can buy sprinkles and a frozen pie next year. Just ate here for breakfast with my boyfriend. We Got the ultimate skillet and the Nashville platter with a coffee. They were delicious! I enjoyed the fact they both came with three pancakes. Very filling. Spent $25 felt that was kinda pricey. The waitress was very nice and quick to refill our drinks and take our empty plates.

I ordered and paid for a Holiday French Silk Pie. I got a regular French silk pie and was given a container of sprinkles. 🙄😳 I can buy a frozen pie and sprinkles next year and not drive clear across town to get it Now I see why there is only one location left.
