Best place for dim sum. And the salted egg yolk crusted baked buns are the best! So is the fried bean curd roll with shrimp and many more. Be sure to go early because the wait can be long. I’ve been there twice, for dim sum, in the last two months. Both times it’s been the same two adults and one child. The first time we ordered 11 plates. The second time, 14 plates. Same pot of tea. I don’t understand how our first bill was ~$87, and the second bill was ~$123. Even taking into account the different sizes and different prices for each size, surely our extra three plates weren’t that much more? There is no itemized bill at all so you just don’t know what exactly you were charged for. Also, gratuity is automatically included. If you’re in a hurry and don’t look carefully it’s easy to miss it, because there is a big blank space asking for an additional tip. I see no reason for the receipt to be formatted this way except to mislead people into double tipping. (There are no signs on the wall or indications on the menu that a good % gratuity is automatically included.) The first time I was there I felt rushed by the crowd waiting to pay, didn’t notice the gratuity and ended up double tipping by quite a bit. The food is delicious. The actual table service is very good, servers are friendly and attentive. But the non-transparency over pricing (how did a few extra plates cost that much more?) and unstated automatic gratuity with an additional big blank space for a tip don’t sit well with me. Yangtze is hands down my favorite dim sum spot in the Minneapolis area because of the freshness and deliciousness of their offerings. I highly recommend arriving around 10 or 11 AM on weekends to avoid long wait times. Among their delectable offerings, the crab claw stands out with its irresistible crunchiness and delightful flavor. The chicken feet are moist and savory, delivering a true dim sum experience. The congee is exceptionally smooth and flavorful, a true comfort food. And don't even get me started on the baked pork buns – they are simply divine. While the space might be a bit small and crowded, the staff are impressively quick and helpful, ensuring a smooth dining experience. Yangtze is a fantastic choice for family gatherings over dim sum on weekends. Ordered sesame chicken, tung ting chicken, fried rice and 2 egg rolls to go. Restaurant seemed clean and staff was pleasant but honestly the most lack luster Chinese I've ever had. We did order late in the evening so I'll give them that but honestly the food was bland and left much to be desired. Not only was it the most mid Chinese food but expensive for the quality delivered. Probably won't be back again. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

First experience here. Online ordering tip: you will receive an email that will always say it’s ready in 30 minutes. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights that actually means one hour and they don’t have time to be updating the online time estimation system (the host explained to another man). Call and order if you want an accurate ETA. I showed up at 30 minutes as quoted in my email and waited another 20-30. Along with about 8 others (all who had varying degrees of frustration). Wasn’t a relaxing waiting experience. The host was nice though, and was trying to do the best he could. Aside from that, I liked the food. I ordered the tangerine chicken with broccoli added, fried rice, and cream cheese wantons. Tangerine chicken was awesome. Fried rice was pretty plain(no veggies or egg to be seen). I’ll order from here again with the wait time in mind next go around. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

My coworker invited me to dim sum and the food was absolutely fantastic! We got here right at open and it was already full since they opened a little early. Luckily, we were still able to get a table for two but expect to wait if you are coming in later. We ordered so many different things from chicken feet to a variety of different dumplings and buns. The food came out in a timely manner and they also had a variety of different items that were brought around that you could pick from too. Not pictured were some delicious baked golden custard buns. These were by far the best dessert item of the meal and quite possibly the year. Words can't explain how good they were. It also makes sense now why I saw them sitting on a majority of other tables because everyone else probably loves them too. The whole experience of drinking tea, chatting it up, and eating good food is something I truly enjoyed. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone! Service Dine in Price per person $30–50

Food was pretty good but the kung pao chicken was not spicy at all. It was pretty busy during a week day dinner. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Yangtze Restaurant is famous for its dim sum served on Saturdays and Sundays, for which Chinese people travel from all over the Twin Cities. I have enjoyed dim sum at Yangtze several times over the decades. This review is based on a recent weekday evening visit to order Chinese entrees off the weekday menu. Everyone in our party has eaten Chinese food in east Asia and at other Twin Cities restaurants. The most charitable thing I can say about the Yangtze weekday menu is that it is heavily adapted to the American customers who visit on weekdays. We talked to the server in Chinese about what to order and tried to find menu items with a more Chinese flavor. Every dish was a disappointment. The one dish specifically recommended by the server was the seafood delight, with apparently undercooked scallops and overcooked shrimp. The best approach to the Yangtze weekday menu is to go in expecting a very Americanized menu and to order American favorite dishes with lots of meat that are not commonplace in east Asia. That might have been less disappointing. As to atmosphere, one member of the staff speaks VERY LOUDLY to other members of the staff, to customers picking up takeout orders, and to customers dining in. That makes everyone else forget to use their indoor voices. The restaurant was not very busy, but we mostly heard other people talking and couldn't enjoy conversation among our own party. The Taste of India restaurant in the same strip mall is a much better weekday evening dining experience, and the sandwich shop in between those two restaurants is a great place to get lunch. I will go back to Yangtze for weekend dim sum but never for ordering off the menu on weekday evenings. Note that I almost always rate restaurants with five stars to calibrate your interpretation of this review. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
