Lovely way to spend our first night in Paihia. The food was wonderful and we were able to get a great table with a perfect view. The whole experience was taken to another level having Chris as our waiter. He was personable and knew exactly what he was talking about. He was professional, yet friendly and his ability to interact with us made our night. Leonie, our waitress, deserves 10 stars. Tonight is our last evening in New Zealand and Leonie rounded it off perfectly. We all agree: she was the best waitress in the last 3 weeks of our holiday. Absolutely friendly, competent and always on top of things. Of course the food was also good and the location is beautiful. Had my brunch here after a short exploration of the wharf. I had the best and freshes oyster here coupled with a seafood soup and a fish and chips. I must say the food is pretty good especially the oysters and the seafood chowder. The fish and chips are only okay. It also has the best view to take in while having my meal. The food was amazingly good! Loved the service, our waitress Leoni was beyond great! Felt bad having Xmas dinner while the staff were working so hard! The staff is wonderful. It is also a nice view while eating your meal, but that would be about it. Maybe go for drinks and a dessert. . This restaurant might have had a great chef with tasty food once upon a time, but it has gone downhill for sure. . Every one of our dishes tasted just “okay” or bad. It should honestly be a miss. Or as of January 2024 they should get a new chef who knows what they are doing and change the menu. I absolutely loved everything about The Dock café and the Aquarium Restaurant. Perched on the wharf / pier / dock their are wonderful views over their part of The Bay of Islands towards Russell. We used the Café frequently during the day before and during our adventures. The ferry to Russell, the Island Getaway boat trip AND the helicopter ride (!!) were all just a stone's throw away. We returned in the evening for a marvellous meal. Kim and Gaia looked after us extremely well and were particularly careful to help me work around my annoying food allergies. The whole team were great - in the outside Café / Bar and in the Restaurant. I only wish that I lived locally rather than thousands of miles away! I would be a frequent customer! Lisa !! Our waitress. She deserves 10 stars. Just so perfect and sweet i can see the passion of working and looks like you happy to working!! Im so glad someone enjoying to work how great!! Thank you for the Lisa. Food absolutely amazing especially mussels with the white sauce mnmm !! And soft shell crab can’t believe so tasty. The customer services made more reasons to visit again. Went to Zane Grey's for their Christmas dinner menus. Amazing food, every dish was out of this world and every bite was cherished. Amazing service thank you to Leoni for a great service and great time, super attentive and very friendly! Restaurant itself is beautiful, right on the water seeing welcome swallows dip and dive around the harbour, with all the islands in the background, and the fish tank is fun to watch too!
